Really loved his detailed and articulate description here, something often lacking in surfboard reviews. Super cool to break down this board, I definitely learned a lot. It totally makes sense for what he was saying about the lift complimenting the single fin in small waves, creating looseness (which is hard to find in small waves), and may be the only worthy sacrifice of drive.

This board is magic. Constantly have people asking me what I’m riding because it just shreds in basically any kind of condition. It will fly through flat sections, trim on walled up hurricane swell and do full round house cutbacks and off the lips on days when most people are riding logs.

Really good talk, Devon has very specific insight that is extremely helpful!

love my 6'5 TPH...went a wee bit lower than smallest stock b/c of my small stature (5'6 and 137lbs). The lift, glide, and float is just a nice feeling.

High performance longboard? I'm all for it🤩 was thinking of getting a long CI Mid for weaker waves but this sounds a lot more appropriate for the purpose

Thanks for the vid. I was looking at replacing my 7 foot water hog with another one. I’m an intermediate surfer 6 foot 160 pounds. This board looks like it might surf just as well, but be a little more loose in the turns And do better in the smaller waves I surf that tend to need a faster board. What would be the difference between those two boards? I’m not really interested in the CI mid as I don’t want the extra rocker nor a “performance” mid length board.

I ride a 6’7” TPH in SoCal point surf at about waist to chest up to head high + softer points. It’s my go to board when I need the soul surfer feel, my body is cooked, or I need the extra volume on a slower face / high tide. My 6’1” CI Twin Pin comes out if it’s a little more punchy at that 6ft mark or I want to rip the bag out of it.

We back that play. Nice use of the designs in their optimum performance ranges. Enjoy!

I like that Devon’s explanation goes with my experience of how things feel under my feet. even tho the surfs way better and understands boards way better
