It sounds so simple, but I've really been missing the weekly affirmation from Drew that I'm still me. It feels like a warm hug. Drew, as many other folks have said, it's a pleasure to just find out what's going on in your world. You have a very genuine, earnest personality that is lacking in the media world today. And you're a natural story-teller; your excitement is contagious. You give us all permission to let our geek flags fly. Follow your happiness, and if you feel up to bringing us along for the ride, we're right here with you!

The biggest mistake most of the youtubers I have watched make is trying to make content solely for an audience and getting burned out. Obviously, ignore the voice telling you no one's interested because that's objectively not true, but also listen to what it tells you about what kind of content makes you excited to make content. At the end of the day what appealed to a lot of us about you from the beginning is that you get excited about the things we get excited about.

Also totally agree on this! Several channels I've liked over the years are becoming increasingly manic and paint by numbers because the creators are so enmeshed in just one thing (or sort of thing) and they're running out of original content and getting burnt out. Burn out is so easy, do what you love and stick to what your passionate about. Don't go all in on gaming the YT algorithm to maximise views and income - if you make good content that you love, you'll get a loyal following who will stick around just to delight in your shared delight experience :)

While I look forward to hearing about where your pen journey leads you, I actually love the idea of having a Drew channel that features stuff outside the pen realm. Your Japan video was a great example of that. There are plenty of sources for fountain pen discussion on KZbin but I have yet to find another channel featuring the genuine delight of someone finding the softest bread ever and then putting it on their face to enjoy such a find. As long as you keeping being Drew, I'll be me and will be here to listen to whatever fun things you want to talk about.

You really wanted to know what a new word meant that you decided to try to find out about it in your sleep. Amazing. 😂 Did you ever talk about The Wild Robot somewhere? Would love to know what you thought of that one.

Thank you for posting today! And a huge thank you to everyone that helped fund Drew’s new set up, I’m deeply grateful to all of you. That may sound odd but I’ve now been in the hospital for two very long years after calling 911 on Nov 28, 2022. The doctors who insisted I was going to die within days were wrong, they were not wrong in saying I’d never leave the hospital though. Drew, I’ m with those who will be here to listen no matter what. There is something very soothing about your voice that really helps melt away the noise chaos of this place. Your smile and easy laughter always have me responding in kind. Every video feels like a treasured friend stepped in to my room to visit. That is a huge blessing. I’ve recently made the decision to switch to hospice care which has made things both easier and harder. Which brings me to a topic suggestion perhaps far outside your comfort zone. Why is death/dying such a taboo? Why is it so hard for people to be at ease with knowing someone will die. We are ALL going to, some of us are just lucky enough to have more of a timeline for our own. Drew I’ve no doubt you could talk about it with both grace and humor. I for one would be rounding up my friends and making them watch. I’ll stop rambling now. Drew I’m so glad you are you and that you’re here. I’m even more glad to be ME, chillin ’ in a hospital room that overflows with dragons and Legos of all kinds. Not where I’d ever dreamed I’d be at 59 but it sure has been an interesting journey.

Hey there, Virginia! Thanks so much for sharing. Speaking for me, death is terrifying because my brain can't comprehend nothingness, and yet it tries - without my permission. I also thing that most of us still feel like we're the main characters of our own story, and have a tough time really coming to the truth that we're a part of the biggest, most amazing story we'll ever be able to see: the story of planet Earth. It's such a treat to be here, be alive, and be a part of the human journey. "If the sweetness in life did not disappear, there were be no sweetness at all". Some guy from a Dark Tower novel said that, so I wrote it down. I try to live in the moments, and appreciate the delights knowing that everything is finite - but that gives them their beauty. I'm on Instagram at @deeseebee if you ever need someone to talk to. Thanks again for sharing, and hope your day brings you some smiles. :)

@@Drewinstuff "death is terrifying because my brain can't comprehend nothingness," But death is NOT nothingness, Jesus defeated death (1 Cor 15) by REALLY existing in reality & REALLY died & rose: Christianity is the most logically reasonable, cohesive, consistent explanation for actual, objective reality & real scientific findings, explaining: origin (Genesis 1), meaning (ex.Isaiah 43:7), morality (ex.Exodus 20), destiny (ex.Hebrews 9:27), order, logic, reason, sense, beauty consistent from an orderly, logical, sensible, reasonable, beautiful God (1 Cor 14:33) Not just my subjective opinion, but objectively (external to your mind;actual/real) true in reality. No other worldview explains reality better, repent of your sins & trust in Jesus FREE sacrifice for eternal life, not eternal death.

Having this video show up in my recommended videos was a very pleasant surprise! Getting to see some more of your enthusiasm and hearing "the yapping" just makes my day a bit better. Thank you! I have a small snake plant in my kitchen now that is either a descendant of or is just a new piece of (I'm decidedly not a plant guy) the snake plant I was given in late summer 1975. That plant was a gift from a neighbor who I had done some chores for that summer while they were healing from a broken arm. I mowed their yard, did dishes, kind of generally helped with whatever they needed. Got paid a fair wage for that and when I went back to school, they were able to do for themselves again. As a thank you they gave me that plant. Which I left with my parents since they did enjoy house plants. Over the years they divided that plant and gave those away. One part of which my sister got. About three years ago, she decide to move rather far away and divided up "her" snake plant. And gave the divisions to her friends and some of the family. And now I have "my" snake plant back. :) I'm still NOT a plant guy but this one will be staying with me. And once I can't find a pot big enough, I guess I will need to figure out dividing it up and passing it along.

Sweetwater is AMAZING!!!!! We get allllll of my son's guitar gear from them. You get assigned a person that checks in on you. They have the BEST customer service!

Heyyy… there’s your face! Good to see you. Congratulations on the new equipment! I watched your interviews with Aziza and the Juicy Broads. Such a delight. I agree that, as much as I enjoy you on your own, there’s magic when two or more get together. Here in Arizona, we’re enjoying warm weather. My birthday was on the first of December and it was warm enough (77°f) to go play miniature golf, a weird but wonderful change of pace. Looking forward to your next appearance on my algorithm!

Just found this in my feed today and you can’t believe how happy it made me! Also, Sweetwater is amazing. I use them for many of my school music purchases and would recommend them to anyone. It’s great to hear your voice and see your smiling face!

Also, I would watch a “weird things I ordered on Amazon” segment anytime.

Yay Drew. For what it’s worth, some of my favorite creators don’t do things just to make a video. They make videos about their lives.

I really enjoy these solo videos, though! I love hearing you talk about random topics and go off on tangents. 😊

Drew you need to do it for yourself - not for other people. We all would love to have you, but that doesn't mean you need to do what we want.

I've always enjoyed your banter! I'm glad you're venturing out! And, I think it would be neat of you wanted to mention pens every now and then 😊 I wish you the best!!

I love the story about your dream! 😂 I have cptsd and constant nightmares anytime I sleep. _However_ the amount of times that instead of waking up terrified, I wake up thinking that I solved all of the world’s problems by figuring out the definition for something, like you did for ‘spatchcocking’ is quite entertaining! Ironically, as much as you’re doing this channel for us, we’re here for you! Don’t play to our imagined interests and figure out what we’d like to hear about, just share your authentic self and your interests/experiences in what ever way you wish. 🥰

This video made my day! Thanks for setting up the channel and making videos, Drew. You really do shine a warm and joyful light that makes people feel good. It’s a gift, and I’m glad you’re willing to share it with all of us. Looking forward to your next video about the actors. Keep ‘em coming!

Thank you for putting this video out there. I'm happy to get to 'catch up' with you. I haven't said it before, but I'll say it now: I'll listen to whatever you want to say. Your genuine personality and passion for your hobbies make me happy when you're talking about something I'm interested in and make me want to learn more (from you!) when you're talking about something I don't know a lot about.

Hi Drew, your sweater reminds me of James Hoffmann, Prince of coffee, today. Guess I’ve liken you to the prince of fountain pens… I can listen to both of you talking about anything- obviously pens and coffees are both indispensable part of our lives if I may say so for many of us who follow you… Anyway,Simply wishing you many success in your endeavors 👍 and shine ✨

Love this Drew! I would love to hear about your 80s music faves, collections, your dog and your thoughts about whatever. I feel like I’m chatting with a friend when I watch you. As a disabled almost shut in nerd, KZbin friends are the best! So happy you’re doing okay!
