This sounds awesome, especially the course! Would love to hear about your experiences of climate change in the Alps, how it's changing your decision making in the mountains, what you think it means for the outdoor activities industry (guides more than kit brands), etc.

Yeah thats a good topic! Did you see Aidin Robbins film that I was featured in? He did a great job diving into that topic. It's here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGGxeKigiatkjtksi=xSYlFhdzmNjWwEvw

I really enjoy your technical content! I would enjoy a video dedicated to knots! The video you made about layering was super helpful to get an insight how mountaineers clothe themselfes! Pretty sure that you online course will be very promising! You have a natural talent in teaching. Always happy to hear an expert talk with passion!

That sort of stuff might be included in my online course!

Hey Dave, great ideas for the upcoming videos, indeed! Ski boot fitting - definitely a must, a new gear reviews - awesome. Would appreciate covering ATK freerider evo bindings review and some skis as well - e.g. blizzard zero g, blackcrows draco freebird... Thanks!

Working on the boot fitting one at the moment pretty happy with how they have turned out!

Video idea! I would love to know what it's like to work with clients in a job like yours. What are clients like and how do you deal with them? How do you judge whether they're skilled enough for the plans? Have you ever had to send someone down the mountain? How do you deal with groups with different individuals that don't align on goals/wishes/capabilities? Any funny stories? What's your personal style/vision on working with clients? Do you involve them in planning and decision making? And probably a million other questions... Would love a video on this topic. Reason: I want to get into guiding (not the actual IFMGA, because I'm not much of a climber, but more like just hiking (local versions akin to IML)).

Thanks for the update. With an eye on ski-touring, will you also do video on when and where to use the petzl rad line (static rope)? I only use it for rappelling and crevasse rescue now, but maybe there are some other, more creative uses?

That’s a good idea for a video! Thanks

Hi there, thanks for the update. Realy happy that you choose Rab! Big fan of their gear, for the video content i would also be interested in autumn training in the gym. Cheers from Slovenia 👋🏻

Looking forward to the ski content - have done a lot of rock climbing, a smidge of alpine climbing, but very much a novice when it comes to strapping planks to my feet!

Sounds cool. Could you try out some ATK Bindings? Specifically the Raider 12 or any of their free tour series.

Me too!! My problem is I have very high standards and will want to make it excellent so it might take some time!

Excited to follow your journey. Thanks. I'd be interested in more rope work for ski mountaineering!

Yeah that's something I want to work on too. I find those videos are either best done clinically at home or at a reasonable level out in the field. Looking forward to figuring that out.

Given the quality of the content that you put out I kind of assumed you already had a sizable following on KZbin-like 500k subscribers. I was surprised to see you’re under 10k! I’m sure it’s hard to be consistent with content when you’re focused on guiding, but you could easily create a big channel with a little more consistency. Maybe some of your clients would be interested in being part of some videos and you could interview them throughout the day to get perspective on their experience
@DaveSearle Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think consistency is the key and I’ve just not been in the position to do videos that often. I’m working on changing that and hoping it will grow more.

Very excited to see what you would actually pick in terms of skis/bindings/shoes now that you're not sponsored by Salomon anymore (cuz I don't really like their offer in terms of ski mountaineering gear, except for their helmet maybe 😅) Really looking forward to these (as much as possible) unbiased gear videos 🤩

Nice run down, keep moving forward! And if you're keen for a ski-tour in the Lenk, Switzerland region, hit me up 👊🏽
@DaveSearle Жыл бұрын
Yeah man! I don’t know that area. How far is it from chamonix?
@themullerfiles Жыл бұрын
@@DaveSearle It's about a 2.5hr drive. We don't have the same exposure as in Chamonix, but we have some nice little mountains (e.g. Wildhorn and Wildstrubel).

Dave, thanks for the update. It's cool to see how far you've come and to see where you're going. I too love the RAB gear. You'll make an great ambassador. Looking forward to more videos! (BigB)

I'd really like to see some more in-depth steep skiing technique. Not a ton of content out there that I've seen. Similar to some of the short videos you have made but more in-depth and instruction. Another idea would be quick refresher courses. Repetition of rappel and anchor set up is never bad to have before going into the winter.
@DaveSearle Жыл бұрын
I’d like to do more of that stuff but then I need a filmer and they are expensive. Currently I’m a one man band!

Great update Dave. Consider ATK bindings? I'm using them excl now and having great results. Don't think there's a better tech binding stable than ATK right now.
