Channel Update, For All Kerbalkind, & KSP 2!

Totally understand the rationale on FAK. I fully expected y'all to transition to KSP 2 at some point after the Moon landing. I'm so, so excited, not just for actually playing the game, but for seeing all my favorite KSP creators ride the wave. I really hope that it blows up on KZbin, and all these small channels finally get some well deserved recognition.

I would never understand a situation where you abandoned the series just because of KSP2, RSS RO RP1 is still equally as different from KSP1 as it is from KSP2, i’m glad you had the common sense to keep the series going

Can’t wait for the FAK Moon Mission! Love to see what you’ll create with KSP 2, and I have been so excited for release. Also, I wholeheartedly agree with the opinion that KSP won’t die due to KSP 2. BDB, Tantares, RSS/RO/RP1, and BD Armory plus so many others still exist in KWP, and until modding support for KSP2 reaches those levels, I don’t think a full scale, permanent migration will take place. Even still, KSP will probably never die due to its nostalgia factor alone. Either way, keep up the good work and Krakenspeed! -J

I'm glad to hear that you won't stop playing KSP 1 when the KSP 2 early access comes out. I've seen so many videos of cinematics with sad music saying "Goodbye KSP" as if you'll never be able to play it again after KSP 2 releases. I said something like this in chat last night: KSP2 phasing out KSP will be a gradual process. It’s going to take a ton of time for the sequel to catch up to where KSP1 is.

Well said! I’m excited to play the EA next week, but i’ll still play ksp1 for some time to come (atleast until science gets added to ksp2, but probably until colonies or even interstellar). Also can’t wait for the reveal of who was first to the moon!

Great news all throughout. Just my two cents for the discussion: I agree that ecpecting a feature-complete game for an early access release isn't reasonable. But I would expect something more than a very early beta after years of development *and* for the very high price of $50 that is bound to increase.

N9, a question: Would a new $3-4K computer assist with keeping the frame rate at a reasonable speed? I must say that your vids are among my very favorites, especially For All Kerbalkind and the one where you take command of the actual capsules. I'd still like for you to take another try at getting to the moon and returning safely to the Earth in that one. Yes, while I was sad that it seemed that your uploading or ability to, was curtailed by real life, I wanted to take a moment to thank you sir, for your efforts to entertain and capture our imagination. From this retired middle grades Science teacher, thank you. =)

As soon as I have some days off of work or maybe before then I'll return to Reentry - we have a Moon to land on! As for better frame rates, after I melted one processor and got a much better one I believe it's as good as it's going to get unfortunately (wouldn't mind an upgrade to the GPU, but perhaps later in the year I'll get around to that!)

Hopefully there will be a realism overhaul mod sometime in the near future and hope you switch to that. Although I would rather see KSP 1 with R.O., I will continue to watch. Good luck and I hope we also get the podcast back.

Agreed on the bafflement about people saying "goodbye KSP1"! It's still there, and most of us knew already that we'd be early adopters of KSP2 and keep KSP1 handy while waiting for all the big features. I think the only REAL problem with the KSP2 release is that the marketing team was marketing the final version that we'll have in a few years, while the developers have been consistent in saying "we're giving you the foundation of the game, very far from a finished product". The awesome trailer is the biggest problem... the disappointed fans thought that for $50 they were getting the game in that trailer, when that was never the plan.

Yeah that trailer, as absolutely amazing as it is, it wasn't the right time. That will be what the game is GOING to be like someday in the future. It makes me so excited and I've watched it countless times in a row, but it seems almost decieving at this point in time - I think it could have waited for the game to be much, much better

I'm SOOOO hyped for KSP2 mostly cuz of the procedural and colorized parts. As a Mac gamer the newest KSP versions like 1.12.5 or 4 don't work for me. So it'll be interesting to see if they devs considered Mac users this time. If not, my channel will probbably crumble under the feet of the ALGORITHM™

I disagree with what you say around the 7:40 mark. Most people will switch over to KSP2 immediately, from what I can tell it's pretty similar to the original, and by the time people are hungry for mods the mod makers will have developed them

I have reservations about spending a lot of time on KSP2 because of the lack of content, but TBH, I think once you load it for the first time, you wont want to go back. Its that way on many games. I have a feeling that there will be SO many improvements to the QoL and interface, that it will be stupidly addicting, even though there is no science or progression. It might take several months to burn out with the current content....and then, they bring in science. But, I'm playing KSP1 RP-1 for the first time, and I love it, just launching Gemini missions and have already tested the Saturn 5. So, on the other hand, I personally wont be disappointed if the EA cycle is stupidly long until science. And...its going to look SO GOOD.

FaK is not dead, just very delayed. Perhaps a regular schedule will never return, but they will keep working on it.
