I agree 100% with what you have said. No matter how public your job is, it is just that... a job. These same people would freak out if someone treated them like that at work. Those people are (a) immature, (b) cowards (hiding behind their keyboard), (c) have many things broken within themselves that they are taking out on you... which they absolutely don't have a right to do.

People that say mean and rude things are insecure, unhappy and feel more powerful putting someone down. I love that you have reminded people that that kind of behavior is not acceptable. Sadly, this behavior is popular. Thank you for your words. I love that you have drawn boundaries for yourself and your channel.

It was thanks to you that I finally have patterns and fabrics and methods that made my sewing work and enjoyable. I owe you so much! You have every right to run your channel in a way that works for your mental health and wallet. I have found that I enjoyed the waffling during the Pandemic as I was home all the time. Once we were able to go back to a more normal schedule my Sunday mornings( in NCarolina) are filled with church, coffee with friends and skyping with grand kids. So I don't think I'll be waffling with you, but will continue to view your look books and other main content. Kudos to you for prioritizing your mental health. It is awful how rude people can be, but it even happens in online book clubs. 😵💫

You are such a lovely person I am utterly devastated for you that you have had to go through this. I have gone through troubling times which didn’t seem to have any reason and at the (seemingly) other end I look back at my journey and even now think ‘It couldn’t possibly have been that bad’, I remember the memories of how I felt but not the actual hopelessness feeling. My journey was of undiagnosed inattentive ADHD with rejection issues, and the tipping point, which bought it to my attention, Menopause, which was misdiagnosed since perimenopause and a good 10 years of increasing pain, brain fog, fatigue and low moods etc.. etc.. Continue to be strong, forgive yourself for any guilt, especially for feelings… we’re allowed them both good and bad. You are very loved and that is for a very good reason. X

I found the online sewing community in the spring of 2018. I spend a load of time watching KZbin. Over the years I've seen many of my most favorite people get hurt by rude comments. They are the kindest people with the sweetest content, and they have been deeply affected. It is such a shame how a segment of people online are so rude, or even despicable. I am so sorry for your negative experience(s). I think your solution, as you've laid it out out, sounds perfect for your situation. Best wishes!

I absolutely love your channel! You have taught me so many useful tips and techniques. I wear me-made clothes all the time now because of you! I will happily continue to watch whatever content you provide. I am glad there are platforms like youtube where I can learn all of these things so easily, but so many of my favorite creators have said similar comments lately and it makes me so sad. If someone isn't your cup of tea, GO FIND A DIFFERENT CUP OF TEA! Don't mess with my tea!!!! And don't hurt someone just because you are behind the safety of your keyboard. I wouldn't comment on some auto-repair channel that I would like them to do videos on sewing instead, or that I would prefer to watch if they would dress differently, or spoke differently, or whatever. I would simply find a channel that fit my personal tastes better. I hope the changes do help and that unhelpful commenters go away. You are the best!

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had health issues 😔 You’re always so tactful and sweet, I’m amazed by how some people behave 🙈 Of course I don’t agree with every single choice or opinion you have but I see that as a way to widen my perspective. If we never meet a new idea or a new way of doing things, how would we ever learn and grow? Both as persons and as sewists. I love that you present me with new food for thought! ❤ I have to admit I’ve been absent from KZbin for quite a while. Work and family life doesn’t give me many opportunities for me-time. 🤷♀️ My patreon account stopped working when I got a new Visa, most annoying. I will find a way to support your channel again, even though it may not be possible to watch as much as I would have wanted. Keeping my fingers crossed the new strategy works and you get a ton of new patterns! ❤

What an odd thing to do-to go on a live stream of someone that a commenter finds “annoying” and then say it! Along with being a strange way to spend their time, it’s just incredibly bad manners. I am sorry you’ve had to receive those sorts of comments, they are rude and uncalled for. I am not a livestream watcher as I’m seven hours behind you, but I am completely behind your decision and I think it’s a great idea. Edited to add: by the way, *I* think your videos are very helpful and fun to watch.

Your work should never become a personal punishment. Yet, the “if you put yourself out there…” crowd treats it as an invitation to make it just that. You have every right to protect yourself from that bad behaviour, Siân, and adults should really have learned to deal with their displeasure on their own. There’s a back or X button for a reason. If they can’t do that, you have to create barriers to protect yourself. Hugs ❤
