I remember taking the southbound train from London to Gatwick Airport in 2002 and the end of my Contiki European bus tour, and as I was on the train, suddenly I see the 'Pink Floyd Animals album cover' right outside the window! What a shocking surprise that was, being a Pink Floyd fan. It was the Battersea Power Station in London.

I was a young man travelling in 1980 when our train passed the famous building on the cover on the way to London. At least I thought so. I never did get it confirmed until now! On that same trip, we travelled to the Cornwall area to hike to the top of Yes Tor, the place used for the cover of Yes's Tormato.

Just exactly the same here! 😄 Also I was at Pere Lechaise cementery visiting Morrison’s grave. While I was walking around I got lost and found myself infront of the cover of one of my favourite records: Dead Can Dance’s “Within the realm of a dying Sun”. If I hadn’t got lost I would’ve missed it!
@GuitarLessonsBobbyCrispy3 жыл бұрын
@@golden_eldorado I visited Jim Morrison's grave as well in June 2002 while on my Contiki tour of Europe. I went off on my own that day to see his grave, and a lot of other people in the Contiki group were like 'why would you want to visit a cemetery?'. I guess they weren't Doors fans, lol.

I used to live at 25th and 8th in NYC; I had no idea that Dressed to Kill's cover was shot 2 blocks away. I've walked that intersection many times. While the context photo does show some people staring at them, I really doubt *most* people would have even bothered noticing the band. That area is and pretty much always was home to a lot of stuff that's a bit outside the mainstream. The infamous Chelsea Hotel, for example, is only about a block away, and that was probably the height of its weirdness.

that morrisson hotel window is new within the past couple of years, 100% not the original window. i checked out the location while on vacation around six years ago and there was no window, just boards, absolutely NOTHING to indicate that the place was once the morrisson hotel from the cover. it was just another run down boarded up building in an area of LA that is straddling the gentrification line. the buildings in that area are either in shambles or brand spaking new luxury apartments. from the street view pictures it looks like someone has been doing work to restore it. unfortunately they'll probably have trouble with that due to the buildings design, and the lack of parking in that area. it's about 2-3 blocks from the Staples center
@luisguitar3 жыл бұрын
True. All you have to do is look up the address on Apple Maps and you can see what it looked like just a couple of years before they restored it. Totally run-down with no sign of the original Morrison Hotel. I’m sure someone got the idea to repaint the sign on the window and put up the signs next to the door just so that tourists could get to see something there, but definitely not the original signage.
