@@marycanary86 for some weird reason, I saw it multiple times that people said they as non-native speakers are able to understand him quite well. I have the same experience, maybe that something that makes him "foreign" or strange for native speakers helps foreigners to understand him better.

I was in St. Petersburg many years ago and wanted to see the mammoths at the museum. My Russian was basic and I couldn't find "mammoth" in my pocket dictionary. Being creative like Kevin, I asked the guide outside the first room where the "fluffy elephants" were. This tiny woman, going on 90, let out the biggest scream, then playfully slapped me as she burst out laughing. She knocked me off my balance and I fell over her chair, back against the wall, legs held in the air by the chair, which only made her laugh all the more. The mammoths were in the room she stood outside and, all the way round, I could hear her shout, "The fluffy elephants are in here!", followed by hysterical laughter. We hugged on my way out. 👵😁🦣
