He had one, called Nighthawks. He loved being in his granny's, and especially when she got a TV. After they watched it for a few hours, Granny asked " Will we turn it on? He doestnt say critter. He says craythur There is a world of difference between calling someone a “creature” and calling someone a “craythur”. A craythur deserves some kind of sympathy or empathy, and the word is usually preceeded by “poor”: The poor craythur fell into the ditch, but she’ll be grand.

When something is described as powerful it can range from being absolutely wonderful to absolutely dreadful. It this case it was the latter. Wiff means smell/ scent so he was saying there is an over powering smell of the poor wee soul that wasn't very pleasant.
