That drystoned wall in the walled garden is an absolute piece of art. The Mason for that part of the project should be extremely proud of himself.

It's weird they suggested the walls were constructed dry. The drystone is simply a veneer on a fully mortar-built wall.

"If you work with an AWARD-WINNING architect, then you are in another realm." - yeah, it's called having crap tons of money. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they earned it. And have put it to a spectacular end. The result it just breathtaking and the art collection deserves a video of its own. I just sat watching, stunned, and shaking my head. What a way to go into your retirement years. Maybe they'll adopt me? Or, maybe I can at least visit...

I agree and I don’t. The old form couldn’t deliver what the owners sought. Surprisingly, the house delivers on its interior flow. It is like 2 different era homes adjoined, however. Somehow it works. I love the dry stone wall. Probably cost as much as the house.

@@anamaria2053 Hey Ana! I like what you say "I agree and I don´t" hahaha. Still, I feel like those two adjoined era houses don´t communicate with each other. They are just sitting together. They could have kept some elements (just something) from the old era... what´s the point of keeping the old construction? that´s a good question for the architect =)

The interior is stunning and they have VERY good taste in Art. I absolutely love all the off angles, brilliant! Still, the idea of just two people building a home with this amount of space is kind of staggering. The exterior of the old and the new structures share no common visual vocabulary; so I can’t help but view them as entirely separate structures and not as an integrated whole home.

I watch the mansions in America been bought and sold for millions upon millions or dollars and there is not one thing about them that I like they look like advertisements. Nothing is out of place and then you look at something like this and just go WOW. I have loved old houses all my life I do not like new builds for me my gran used to say when the time comes for you to want your own home visit numerous times but at different times of the day and then stand and listen to the walls they all tell a story there is life in those bricks new builds don't do that. This is an outstanding home and I am in love

So really quite old people living in a massive monument to their egos. No happy with a georgian house, they build another 310 m2. It is quite interesting but again, the decison is made based on the money thrown at the building and not the level of innovation or any number of other critieria that are relevant today.
