UK Immigration minister Robert Jenrick resigns over Rwanda migrant bill - reports

In the last few minutes, reports say Robert Jenrick has resigned as immigration minister over the Rwanda migrant bill, as Labour accused the Government of 'total chaos'.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
It follows warnings by the former home secretary Suella Braverman that the Tories would face electoral oblivion if their emergency legislation failed to get deportation flights taking off - but the prime minister avoided the most hardline option, which would have meant disregarding international law.

Funny you should mention Australia. 3rd country processing is often referred to as the Australian model. Not because of the convicts nonsense you're bringing up, but because Australia are the ones who designed this model. A model that is effective absolutely everywhere its deployed. It's been more than 10 years since Australia has had any real people smuggling by boat because of third country processing. In fact the advisors on the rwanda policy behind the scenes are all Australian ex-politicians who deployed the policy in Australia at the end of the 90s. None of the people being processed are convicts. Also worth noting that the UK dumped twice as many convicts in yankville as it did in Australia back in the day. Isn't it interesting that you never hear about that despite the same policies surrounding free immigration for non-convicts.

How often do we have to explain to Tories that "they came through a safe country" has NOTHING to do with the UN refugee convention which clearly states that anyone can seek asylum anywhere without having to stop in a safe country? This whole idea of "they came through a safe country" stems from the EU and it is limited to EU member states as described in the Dublin agreement which the UK chose to leave, so why do they keep banging on about it? Did they not understand Brexit and what they voted for or what they even promoted?

Do you think the Dublin Agreement is allowed to supersede the Refugee Convention and remove the right to claim anywhere in the EU? But the UK cannot behave the same?

We understood Brexit as putting the Royal Navy in the channel and controlling who gets through, both legal and illegal migrants. What we didn’t get was a leadership capable of making use of Brexit and it was squandered. So it was never given a chance to succeed because for the most part our ruling class didn’t want it. That said, the Rwanda Bill removing Judicial authority is a mistake. Not because of the Bill itself, but because it sets the course for true fascism / communism, which I fear is on the horizon and approaching fast.

The whole idea of they came through a safe country is that they literally came through a safe country. It isn't the French abandoning France and coming in boats to the UK, there is no logical fallacy here. There is the refugee convention which is essentially only enforceable by military intervention, but who is going to start a war with the UK over immigration? Nobody. They are too busy with their own migrant issues anyway.
