The UK's Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn was a 200/1 outsider in the Labour leadership contest two years ago. He defied those odds to win and now he is in the race to be next Prime Minister in the UK's general election. And many say the odds are stacked against him again.
According to his devoted supporters, his idealism is exactly what the country needs. But to his detractors, he’s made Labour simply unelectable. So who is he, what motivates him and what’s the future of the Corbyn project?
And we also spoke to him about his foreign policy - asking him: When in the last half century has British-backed military action been necessary?

nice meme man. If you're referring to the fact that his wages are paid by tax payers, do you dislike policemen for the same reason? We choose to pay them because they have to work full-time to do the job properly. If we didn't, how would anyone but the richest people be MPs anyway? Or would you rather be represented by a guy who juggles the running of the country with working full time down some office somewhere so he can support his family? He doesn't take money from the poor we happily give it to him because he's a representative of the people in parliament.

Sadly Sam, most of those "lies" are actually the truth. It's just that his supporters choose to ignore his rather tainted past. Supporting Hezbulah, The IRA and other terror organisations is not something to brush under the carpet. And now that he wants to be friends with NATO beggars belief! Only six years ago he accused it of being the single most dangerous organisation on the planet. But, like most newer Labour supporters, you pretend he's nice, fluffy and sincere. If it makes you feel warm inside then I'm pleased for you.

Equality of opportunity means put simply you have the same chance of lets say getting a job as the next person. Equality of outcome is for example if you get the same level of education as someone else you'll get the same grade or if you get the same grade you'll get jobs with the same amount of pay. Something along those lines if I remember correctly thought I could be wrong.

Corbyn is fucking amazing at answering questions. You don't even realize until you compare and contrast him and May, she ducks and dives, he straight up answers what is put in front of him.

It gives me a lot of optimism that Jeremy Corbyn is around. I know not everyone thinks it was great that he supported the socialist movement in Venezuela but the Venezuelan's are not fat now like capitalist Americans and that can't be all bad. The Venezuelan president can certainly afford a good burger so socialism certainly didn't cause him to go without food. As long a few Venezuelans are doing OK from socialism there it must be fine. After all Jeremy we need to fight for the few not the many, (I think that is Mr Corbyn's catch phrase?)

To define him as "protest" not "politics" is patronising. In fact everything that pompous bloke said in his strange little breaks were ridiculous. Every great movement that guided a nation began as protest. If a party is for the working people, then right now that may well be considered protest by the elites that want to maintain things as they are.. or rather.. keep taking more.

A poll had recently put Labour at just 171 compared to the Torries 393. Labour has lost pretty much almost the entirety of the working class to the Torries: calling them all racists will do that. I predict the Torries will get over the 400 mark and Labor around 150.

Day one of a Corbyn govt: The top 1% emigrates to escape his taxes and we lose 25% of all income tax. Now what?
@greendaytomd96
@greendaytomd96 7 жыл бұрын
and where exactly do they go ? Our tax rates are some of the lowest in the g20.... we can raise the top rate of income tax and corporation tax and still remain competitive with Europe plus more infrastructure investment would make it easier for companies to do business and manufacture products here because the production costs would be much lower. There is one reason big business would more to Europe, specifically in the financial industry, because it requires common regulation and free movement of capital with the EU which could end after brexit but you probably dont give a shit about that 7% of our entire economy right?

Kush I Brian Walden was a fantastic reporter, bar none really. Many people would not know that he was also a Labour MP before his later years on TV. Sincere, intelligent, probing, and didn't allow any politician to get away with fudge. How we need him now. One of the biggest losses this year.

@@secondtimearound2539 Exactly. I grew up watching him with my dad. As a little boy, I had no idea what they were talking about, but I was struck by Waldren's voice, his timing, cadence and vigour. Standards have definitely dropped. Thank you for your feedback.
