Naomi is my favorite female model next to Iman and Alek Wek. She has broken down doors but I have to say: I don't like it when she puts other models down. If it weren't for her friends standing up for her when she wasn't getting shows, who knows what would've happened. No shade to her but that type of talk that I saw on the now-defunct show The Face was uncalled for. I DO adore her but put downs are never good.

She was discovered at 15 in Streatham high street and has been working in fashion for almost 40 years since. Her longevity at the top of modelling is unparalleled. And she achieved all this being a dark skin black women. In the 80s and 90s it was uncommon to see any black celebrities on the front cover of magazines. Shes achieved a lot! ❤️❤️❤️ Her tough exterior has given her the fortitude to achieve the most out of life. She should be very proud. 🇬🇧

I hate comments like this. EVERYBODY has to prove themselves 150%. My grandmother graduated from medical school in 1927 -- ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO! There were many Black models long before Naomi, including the great Iman, Beverly Johnson, Donyale Luna, Pat Cleveland, Naomi Sims, Grace Jones, Dorothea Church. The greatest beauties in history were African: Queen Nefertiti, Queen Tye, Cleopatra, Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandrige, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. And many of Naomi's contemporaries are "mixed race": Helena Christensen (half Peruvian), Christy Turlington (half El Salvadorian), Sonia Cole, and on and on and on. We're glad Naomi had the support of Christy. But enough with whining from someone who has had all success. How about Rebecca Crumpler, who graduated from medical school in 1864. Charlotte Ray, who graduated law school in 1872. Sadie Alexander, PhD, Economics, 1922. Euphemia Haynes, PhD, Mathematics, 1943. People selling themselves as victims in this day and age make me sick. Real women, like my grandmother, of whatever color, don't complain. They work! They succeed! They MAKE their happiness! Naomi, for all her success, just keeps making herself a loser, over and over again. Boo hoo... And for what? Like anybody cares in the scheme of things. She did not cure cancer. She did not invent the computer. She did not solve world hunger. So shut up...

Naomi Campbell has been complaining about discrimination for years. But i think as women with such high level experience in the fashion and modeling industry, why not create your own lane for women like her ? Alot POC females just want to be accepted by the major Western-European fashion brands and want to be ''IT POC'' female among European models to show of they belong to the ''elite'' so called. Naomi Campbell is perfect example of this, she could have created her own magazine brands, own model agencies, run way shows ...but she didn't. Always focused on ''how hard it was to be the first Jamaican-British/POC'' female in the high fashion/modeling industry. She talks as blk women but she always tries to emulate European women, didn't want to have childeren that look like her and always have a hair set peac on that is far from being who she really is.

Okay what does that have to do with her. Fact: there were very few black models at that time. Fact: Anna Wintours boss said to Anna, “You’re going to put an African American model on the September cover of American Vogue?” Because she was the “First Black” for many publications and achievements. That comes with pressure. And again this is the 1980s, a different atmosphere of society. So “150%” is her use of figurative language on how cautions she has to be to change the perception so more opportunities for women of color could come into fruition.
