The villain part annoyed me the most about the new film. I remember that when I watched it, I just felt this gnawing sensation that something was off, and that it wasn't truly Marry Poppins. I only understood why in animated section with the wolf. I just suddenly thought to myself, "Wait! This is an evil guy! There's a villain! Marry Poppins doesn't have villains! The whole point was about issues caused by good intentions but closed-mindedness, not about dealing with bad guys!" Really ruined the film for me.

Wait, three kids and with a set up for a deceased mother, they could have explored so many different things with just the children's personalities alone. Like the oldest could be the only one that is most affected by the mother, making them go through their role as the oldest child who needs to take an initiative. The middle child could have a relationship problem with the father and is socially awkward, and finally the youngest could be overly dependant on the father. Done. Three simple distinct personalities that could tie into how the story can progress.

Some of the creators still try to be creative but they get silenced because that's not what the big crowd wants/not as easy to do as the formula, and why should they care? They got the brand recognition already. They at most care if it is something new to show how great it is to start a franchise/Disney+ (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series). I'm not saying that the franchises/Disney+ will suck after they tried establishing they won't, but I am also not saying Disney cares enough. As for Pixar, they are still trying original stuff, some being good and some absolute garbage like A Good Dinosaur, and alot of sequels, some being okay and (Atleast for me, many think the following movie is good) some absolute garbage like Toy Story 4. Kyle Morello I totally respect your opinion, I just consider myself an old soul and kind of a purist when it comes to films haha! Some remakes might be good, or continuations like the movie Christopher Robin, but I think if the original was received well in its time or perfect the way it was, it doesn’t need a remake(and Disney is definitely not the only franchise doing this). I had a long conversation with my friend about this and we agreed that there are some Disney remakes or continuations that are worth doing, such as two of my favorites The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Great Mouse Detective. Some of their new movies have been good like Moana, but quite recently I just don’t think they hold a candle to the originals.

The great thing about the original bank scene is that as a kid, Michael’s point of view makes more sense, but as you grow up, you begin to see George’s point of view more. In the new one there is none of that.
@masonwheeler6536 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, watching it again today, that line about "feed the birds and what do you get? Fat birds!" is a little bit cringe. Feed the birds and you get _dependent_ birds, who keep coming back and begging people for food because they don't know any way to feed themselves. And if you feed them enough, they breed and you get more and more dependent birds and they become a nuisance, because they get in the way and poop everywhere. As a general rule, anywhere in a city where there's any serious number of pigeons tends to be a pretty bad place to hang around. It would be nice if the writers had come up with an alternative activity to spend the tuppence on that actually did some good.

Alex Garcia To be fair the original Mary Poppins is kind of a guilty pleasure in my option. I just cannot get those damn songs out of my head like if I start mentioning one of the songs names it gets stuck in my brain like forever. Julie Andrews I have no problem with she's one of those actresses that get me frustrated in my speech wherever I love her work or hat..uh what was I talking about? Dick Van Dyke on the other hand is a awesome amazing actor for a guy whom can tap dance on a desk at the age of 93 like that I just really wish he was in more Disney live action reboots hell he could be Disney's cash cow cameo like the late Stan *the Man* Lee. But to be fair I don't really hate Mary Poppins or it's reboot sequel Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt I just find the songs downright pleasant and jolly just like Ms Poppins but maybe a bit too jolly I don't know I just cannot seem to get the song 🎵Spoonful of Sugar makes the medicine go down 🎵 *CRAP BLAST DASH IT ALL I DID IT AGAIN!!!!*

The remake completely ruined this amazing and charming character, turned her into a psycopath and a lazy women. Seriously, she didn't care the the kids were lost in the animated world, she didn't help them when they were attacked by the Wolf or didn't looked for them. I find it really irresponsible and cruel! In the original, Marry was always with the kids; teaching them stuff and playing with them; SHE CARE FOR THEM! The new one is scary or lazy, i hate her!

Miss Mangas Girl, you need to chill. You’re one of the few people who didn’t like her character and for good reason. Plus, you didn’t even give any good reasons why she’s bad. It’s ok to be biased, just don’t be whiny about it 🤦🏻♀️
@missmangas72984 жыл бұрын
@@snackeater4990 Your right, i forgot to wrote them in my comment. Let me tell you why i think she's bad; In the vase, she didn't took care of the kids. Yes at first she watches them but during the show, Mary left them then they got capture by the Fox and were ALMOST KILLED because of her! The original Mary Poppins would never be that imprudent and cruel! Mary will bring the kids to a magical place and helped them to learn important stuff... like how much their father cares about them (Before they go at the Bank with him.) It's ok to have fun but sometimes you got to stop (The Step in Time scene. ) It's alright to laugh but there's things in life who can be sad (When they drank tea near the ceiling. ) What the new teaches them? Things can be differents, that's it! That's not a very good moral if you asked me!
@snackeater49904 жыл бұрын
Miss Mangas Those reasons are definitely nitpicks. They didn’t die, Mary is the one that woke them up, they weren’t in any real danger. If Mary didn’t care about them, then why did she help them get their house back? For fun? Then again, she was a little bit of narcissist in both movies. Also, in the original she says, “And what would happen to me, may I ask, if I loved all the children I said goodbye to?” Also there’s this, “She doesn't care what happens to us. She only promised to stay until the wind changes. Isn't that right Mary Poppins?” But her actions say otherwise, since she helps them. She has the same personality in both movies, I know cause I watched them back to back. She’s stern, not malicious

@@kurvos I fail to see what does your comment have to do with mine. But I'll elaborated anyway. I don't always think about Tamara as beautiful but here she sure was. That unwritten rule that says: men can't be called beautiful unironically, has to do with how gender roles have been developing since the XV century. Look at Expulsion of Adam and Eva by Massacio, there you can see how Eva is able to express her inner torment openly but no Adam, he has to cover his face bc he can't show his feelings. Ever since that period in history men aren't allow to show feelings or feel vulnerable which are part of what makes beauty (thoughtlessly). If you read parts of the Illiad you'll see that many of its heroes show their feelings, cry, mourn, get crazy with the need of vengeance. In that text men are called beautiful and more. I can't talk for everyone but men are beautiful to me to. I never have a problem with saying to my boyfriend that he is beautiful. Or telling a male coworker or male friend that he looks good and that the efforts he makes in his appearance are noticeable. I don't use the exact word beautiful bc I don't used it either with my female coworkers. Here on the internet somehow one tends to be more open than irl.

Boy no.1 was actually my childhood friend. We met up last year and I shared ur opinion with him, and you can bet he had A LOT of character in his reaction. He karate kicked a piñata.

Logical Overdrive Disney isn’t actually replacing anything like in the opening. You just wanna be part of something that makes you some underdog, like all the others who call these things “terrifying” when there are bigger atrocities across the globe.

21:00 when Lin started singing I immediatley wondered what was the directing of that. Rob Marshall: Okay, Lin, just sing how you'd normally sing except you have to have random flashbacks to Hamilton. Oh yeah and the irony of Lin in this film is funny. Think of it, a man that wrote the songs to a musical against the oppression of the British colonizers landing the role of a British guy. It may not be funny for you but sure of a heck of a lot funny to me.
