Funny thing is men do have to be married before becoming king it has nothing to do with sexism its really only to ensure that there will be a successor to the throne so it doesn't end up in the hands of your second cousin three times removed who just so happens to be a bond villain

Yeah, anyone who knows anything about Britain's royal history know that shit gets fucked up real fast when you don't have a clear line of succession. Although that does make one wonder about gay kings and queens....

@@melodramaticdragon5826 Gay kings and / or queens often basically have to bite it and do it. I mean nowadays could probably a king just give a sperm sample, and get a "true heir" like that and have a "non sexual" wife and maybe have a male lover on the side or something like that... But Yeah, generally they either don't become kings / queens or just have to bite together and do it.

@@melodramaticdragon5826 tbh most of the straight kings and queens wouldn't have necessarily been attracted to the people they were arranged to marry either, when arranged marriages were actually necessary for diplomacy they didn't start a bunch of melodrama about marrying for love, they just married who they were told to, whether there was attraction or not, and banged whoever the fuck they wanted, straight or gay, on the side because they're royalty.

A princess of a european monarchy, that adds no real political direction to the country, and it's only there for social events, taking pictures with orphans and other important figures, and to spend ludicrously huge amounts of money. What's funny is the Mia Thermopolis in the books was a brash, loud-mouthed political activist. She was a vegan, she wore combat boots, like she had a clear, undeniable character. She was not pretty, she did not have men drooling all over her, and she cared very deeply and very passionately about being a good leader. In fact, that was what made her NOT want to be a leader in the first place. But once she comes to terms with it, she really embraces the idea. It's so, so, so sad that Meg Cabot's character, who was a CHARACTER, with both likeable and unlikeable personality traits, was reduced to... to.... this.

They should have a third movie to round off the trilogy where the people witness the pointless opulence of the royale family and revolt in a horrendously brutal and violent Genovian Revolution backed by the US to create a Democracy, but instead backfires and ends with a Peoples Republic of Genovia with the former princess and he rlover being the only ones to survive the ensuing massacre. They then work hard to escape the country and live out their lives in Great Britain, keeping a low profile and living a modest hardworking life.

I don't really see how this movie was supposed to be moralistic or inspiring. I've only ever seen it as a silly bit of fun. All the actors and actresses seemed to be having a fun time while making this, and it comes off as being one of those silly movies that people enjoy simply because it makes them smile. I don't think it was supposed to be anything important, more like an excuse to get the cast back together, tie up the loose end about the Queen and her bodyguard, and get the chance to mattress surf while also singing karaoke.

This is the problem with books being turned into movies, everyone has their own idea of how things happened and their own idea of what the characters look like. It doesn't matter how well these things are described in the books, everyone will always have their own view of how things should be and they'll have their own expectations of how it should be if it were turned into a movie. When I read a book, I know for me at least, it's like a movie playing in my head, I picture how I see things and my mind takes it from there. But when a book is made into a movie, everyone is expecting their own version of the book and how they imagined it to be. Not everyone will have the same image and going to see a movie that's based off of a book, you have to go in understanding that the creator made the movie based on how he interpreted the book. Point is, it's going to be different for everyone.

The reason the first movie worked so well for a lot of us was that it was RELATABLE while still being comedic. As teenage girls, we found it compelling. Maybe none of us ever became princesses in an incredible twist of fate, but we all went through feeling left out, having conflicts with our friends and families as our lives changed, feeling like we didn’t fit in, wanting to change things for the better and not knowing how. And even as adults we still love it because we may not be teenage girls anymore, but we remember how all of that felt. All of that just goes right out the window in this movie. No teenage girl could relate to this movie or any of the relationships in it and that’s sad.

Thinking back, that movie was one of the best in my childhood, because it was a fun, well written story that had interesting female characters and a good message. That was before the time when barbie movies were nothing but pink rainbow barf. That movie was so much better than this one in every way, and the songs were phenomenal.
