@@apophis40123 Cause the original Matrix came out in 1999, at best that means development had to have started around 96 or 97 right around the start of the internet boom. Computers around that time were still fairly niche and not everyone had one nor understood em well, for a good example of that just honestly ask ur, parents or grandparents, what a GPU or CPU is and you'll get a good understanding WHY it was changed. It was a bit a head of it's time tbh, if they had waited maybe 5 or 6 years then there could have been a better argument for keeping it as processing power. But at the time batteries is a better explanation, everyone knows what a batter is what it does, even back then.

I do actually think that the French dude is actually a former One who survived as code and lived in the next Matrix. Think about it, he's able to manipulate the code of the Matrix, the only program to do so, he has the ghost dudes, former agents from a previous Matrix and other old programs working for him, he is allowed to capture powerful programs like the Keymaker with no problem, and the agents don't seem to want to mess with him. He survives Smiths attack unscathed, even the Oracle couldn't do that. Also, his wife his named Persephone, which makes him Hades, the King of the Underworld, like a God. You can use one on your pc to perform a super quick virus scan but they still have to check each folder(cubicle) one by one till it finds the virus file(Neo). If it was as simple as "code google" searching to find a virus, anti-virus software wouldn't be necessary in the first place. And yes, if you move a file to a different folder then it literally does mean that the code for that file is no longer in the old folder.

Here's the problem with Doug's criticism of the Matrix's "plot hole." The human body needs the brain to power it. A lot of the body's biolelectricity comes from the brain, it's the most powerful organ in the body. Without the brain, the rest doesn't work. IDK why people overcomplicate the matrix. The machines created a simulation for people but some didn't like being in the simulation and wanted to live in the real world. Those people broke out of the matrix and formed a community called Zion. The machines created programs like the Oracle and the Merovingian to make a game for the unplugged people to keep them from destroying the matrix. The one is just the accumulation (the remainder) of the calculation of the matrix. The longer the simulation runs, the bigger the remainder becomes; like dividing 10 by 3, you get 3.33333... The remainder keeps getting bigger. So to reboot the simulation, the machines trick the unplugged people to find the remainder (Neo) and take him to the source to reboot the simulation and start all over again. The architect makes Neo think that he is saving humanity because the machines are attacking Zion. He does it to trick him into plugging back in to reboot the simulation. What is special about Neo we see is that he chose to save his loved one over saving humanity. When he didn't plug back in, the remainder kept getting bigger which is why he had powers in Zion and why the oracle didn't know what to do because she wasn't programmed with that possibility. Eventually, Neo realizes his purpose is to plug back in to reboot the simulation and so he goes to Machine City. The problem was that Smith had gotten too big because his code got infected by Neo's code and became a sort of Anti-One (-1). So Neo lets Smith plug into him so they can cancel each other out and let the simulation reboot. The problem with making a matrix within the matrix theory is that people would then want to unplug out of that matrix and the machines would then have to make a third matrix for those people, and a fourth, and a fifth, and so on. You would basically end up with infinitely recurring matrices which would then overload the machine running the simulation. So the machines control most people by trapping them in the matrix and the rest of the people are controlled by a fake war between them and the machines.

"Why is there a Matrix?" Smith said why in the movie. They first created a utopia that the humans rejected and they lost entire crops so, they created a second reality that was more believable to the humans. This way they could harvest the energy they needed to survive. It's not a plot hole if it doesn't break the movie's logic and, that's the logic the movie established. It sounds like you don't understand the fiction part of science fiction and are instead basing your criticisms on how things work in real life but, it's not real life, it's a movie.

Keanu got so much better at acting and so much more likeable, and you can tell that he really missed Carrie-Anne Moss, he almost sounds nervous when talking about her, its kind of endearing!

The main girl in the Animatrix short that was Critic's favorite looked like Jem from the 80s cartoon. ETA: I don't know why, but "Something Weaving this way comes" KILLED me!

Zion control wasn't in the matrix, Zion is well below broadcast depth. They were in a construct, like the dojo, they're just taking advantage of the hardware the machines installed in them. Human interface devices are probably rather rare, the machines don't need them, and most of their tech appears to be salvaged from the machines.
@calebbarnhouse4967 ай бұрын
Yea, it's pretty obvious that the matrix is software, so why couldn't the humans write there own software to run on the hardware? It'd just the difference who runs it

I saw the original Matrix movie so many times in theaters. My favorite matrix movie was actually the Animatrix because I feel that it was more closer to what the narrative should have been. I know I might be alone on this statement but I think they should have stopped at the first one then the Animatrix and left it obliguous.

Let’s not forget that the Signs aliens tried to conquer a planet mostly covered in water. That acts like acid to them. And regularly falls from the sky. And they didn’t even pack so much as a raincoat.

The comment about neo being stupid for flying round the world was wrong, the location inside the door he breaks is the mountain mansion he's standing outside, the French man closed that door cutting him off from previous location meaning his only option was to fly. Really need to watch the film if your going to make fun of it lol

Hahaha! I loved the matrix. I'm your age, but my friend group definitely fell for the cool factor. It's style etc was enticing to our simple minds. I always recognized the corny elements, and whether there should or shouldn't be a matrix I think is easy to brush aside as "this is the world they wanted to create" - but for what it's worth, you have convinced me to regard it as less cool, or rather - more corny. I love action movies though, and essentially the stylistic blend of film noir with action was obviously enough to woo me.

It was a terrible idea, but I have to give THE MATRIX credit for innovating that "puke-green" color scheme. For a few years afterward, it seemed as if every "serious" Hollywood film was experimenting with either dingy green or other weirdly colored filters.

The concept of multiple agent smiths forming a giant enemy was actually done in a game called “path of neo”, with a cutscene preceding the boss battle introduced by a pixely versions of the Wachowsys themselves. It was corny, goofy, and over the top, but legit fun.
