Love how there are just two camps of people when it comes to the PT Cruiser. Those who absolutely love it and those who think it's the worst car in existence. No in-between people who think it's just okay.

If the PT Cruiser had been a good car it would still be around - or at least have had a longer run. I have owned a string of Chrysler products since the early 1990s, and own a Dodge Caravan and Ram pickup now. Not because they are exemplary vehicles: Their resale value is so low they are cheap to buy, and if a person can fix his own stuff they can remain a bargain. The PT’s main problems were that the cute design required too many compromises in fitting the drivetrain into the vehicle - and because it was built by Chrysler. The company for decades has struggled to come up with models that earn solid reputations. Just look at Toyota and Honda: Corolla and Camry, Civic and Accord have earned gold-plated status while Chrysler has dreamed up, produced and abandoned nameplate after nameplate. No manufacturer has had a perfect run - witness the Honda Del Sol and Toyota Paseo - but Chrysler has done a great job at producing mediocre automobiles. The PT had potential, but the wrong company built it. Just like my Land Rover Discovery II: hands down one of the coolest looking SUVs ever. And a horribly, pathetically unreliable vehicle. If only Toyota had built it. And the PT Cruiser.

There is a reason why the valve cover gasket is torqued in stages It is done in stages so the gasket has a chance to compress evenly to get the best seal possible. It is usually a good idea to replace the pcv valve when putting in new plugs. It is easier to do them at the same and inexpensive.

I noticed you only did half the job of replacing intake seals. There is a second set of intake seals on the lower half of intake which bolts to side of motor. Since the P T Cruiser has a common issue with these seal compressing over time, you may still have a problem or it will worsen as a vacuum leak causing a rough idle.

I came here to say this, and also clean the throttle body while it's off and there is a rubber piece on all those valve cover bolts that is probably shredded and cheap and easy to replace.

If you didnt want to spend too much money on the leak you could use slime in tire. love that product, only add it to a balanced tire or it will throw off balance

In case anyone was wondering, 105 Inch-pounds is about 8.75 Foot-pounds. For the valve cover on a naturally asperated engine I would probably stick to about 72 to 84 Inch-pounds (6 to 7-Foot-pounds) just because you don't want to break any of those old bolts. Hand tightening them by feel is probably best because you don't want to strip them out of the head trying to meet the torque spec, that isn't fun.

Great job. P030x codes could be ignition or fuel related. I've experienced both. Plugged fuel injector and fouled spark plug. When putting new plugs in, I usually try to go premium oe stuff. Platinum or iridium in the oe brand. I'm a GM guy, so I like ac/Delco. Side note: the ac in ac/delco stands for Albert Champion.. of Champion spark plugs. You could have probably left the ignition coil unmarked. The plug wires were already kinda pre-bent in the correct areas. If the plug wire won't reach easily, it's the wrong one. Lol. You also had video footage of the correct orientation if you got mixed up. Inch-pounds are kind of a gray area. I have a 3/8" torque wrench that will read that low but most of the time you'll be fine guestimating it. It's a rubber gasket, under no real load. It should be good if you torque it by feel. Same thing for tremendously high torque settings.. if you don't have a torque wrench that reads that high, you can probably get by with just getting it as tight as you possibly can. 20-150ish ft-lbs is probably more in the crucial zone. Less is barely more than finger tight. More is busting-ass tight. I apply antisieze by rolling the threads on the tip of the tube, or by brushing it on with the brush included in the can. Spreading it with your fingers is usually a messy approach. That silver (or copper) crap finds its way everywhere. Lol I like to stuff new shop towels down the intake ports if I'm going to be working inside an engine. It's a layer of protection against dropping a nut or bolt, or even dirt and crud down the holes and getting into your cylinder head. Great job again. Looking forward to the next video. 👍

Thanks man! That's what I've been hearing, there is a possibility it could be an injector or a coil pack as well (both are common PT issues), but I think this tune up will keep the light off! Yeah, there really was no need to mark the wires/coil, the marks on the valve cover just got washed away when I cleaned it anyways lol. She came together good. Seems like most people don't worry about inch pounds, snug er up and call it good. I like to reference them in videos either way since I've had many people come back asking what torque specs I used lol. I found that out the hard way about the anti-seize , I kept getting it everywhere on the freshly cleaned valve cover! Thanks again my dude, more to come!

I tried some E3’s when they were new in my 2002 PT. They were nice and they did seam to be a little more responsive. I kept having to replace them over and over again (under warranty) because the porcelain kept cracking every 3k - 3k miles.

I have a 2002 Chrysler Pt cruiser Dream and I love it ! I haven't had it a year yet and drove it for 7months and I'll be driving and it just stalls ! Try an start it back up and it act an sounds like it flooded !?! Try to get mechanic here to look at and fix is a joke !!! So I'll fix what I can my self !!! I've replaced the auto shut down sensor,intake air charger temp sensor, Idle air control valve and getting ready to change out my throttle position sensor,spark plugs/wires as manifold seals and valve cover gaskets so I need HELP what sensor is causing the problem??????????

replacing plugs, wires pcv valve and hose, upper intake gaskets and valve cover gasket. Do you recommend I do the ignition coil while I'm at it? The Delphi one you used is about $90 and isnt in stock at my local store, they have A middle of the road Duralast for $70 with a limited lifetime warranty, and I've seen them as cheap as $45. Replace since I'm already in there? If so, what are your thoughts on using the Duralast? It's an 07 Touring with 155,500 miles on it.

Going half crazy out of my mind I replaced the 02 sensor's to pass inspection now it's still reading 02 bank 1 not sure if it's upstream or down stream some say it could be ASD relay others saying Mao sensor help I've already passed the date it needed to be inspected

When you pushed the spark plug wires into where they connect to the spark plug. Did you have to trim the bottom of the rubber or did they set tight?

Okay I recently bought my very first ever Dodge it's an O2 first-gen PT cruiser 2.4 l 4-cylinder three or four speed Auto don't know it did have a little bit of a misfire earth going on and I have not had an oil change I have not even worked on it at all

Anyone can recommend some good how to do-it-yourself Fix-It videos for PT cruiser would be more than appreciated I have an issue with my I know my battery needs to be replace I tried charging it to try to get some more battery life I drove it around and then it had a nasty overheating problem unfortunately it's been overheating a lot and I haven't had no coolant so I've been putting a Band-Aid on it using a regular water which I know you're not supposed to specially around winter time but I figure it's better than run it with some water in it then running it with nothing in it at all but I'm having trouble with turning over

Good morning, Sir! Its been a while since Ive commented on your videos, but good job!... My question for you is: Idk if you've noticed, but when my 07 Touring Edition idles, it vibrates kinda rough! Ive had it checked out, but have been told that the vibration is normal?! After owning mine for 3 years, Im used to it, but Im still curious... Is there a way to make that vibration go away? Ive owned Lincolns before my PT, and my wife has a 2016 Fusion, and none of them shook! Lol

Hey, thanks for following along with the vids! I'm the same way, I watch a lot of other youtubers and rarely comment lol. I have noticed a vibration at idle with both cruisers, I guess you could call it "normal", as in it doesn't hurt anything for it to be that way (that I know of.) If it's bad or get's increasingly annoying, not a bad idea to look into swapping out some motor mounts, that's usually the cause of such a vibration. Yes. There is one from the throttle to the intake manifold. I just replaced mine. It is easy. My 04 PT has 3 bolts to the throttle body making it an easy replacement. I cleaned out my throttle body and IAC while I was in there. Not bad but definitely itly time for cleaning.
