Joshua Edwards I know, I’m hoping that something good happens out of it all. Especially with the new released trailer, it is VERY likely the dragons will go away but I’m having hope that hiccup and toothless stay together or at least connected in some way (which I’m sure will happen anyway because they’ve been best friends, you can’t tear apart something that great) :/
@Cy_Cyborg6 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad they decided to go with hiccup loosing his leg, it honestly had a much bigger effect on people than I think they knew. When How To Train your Dragon first came out I was 13 and refused to go out in public unless I was wearing long pants because I am an amputee, and I was embarrassed about it because of the way kids (and older people too) acted around me (usually saying things like "What's wrong with you" or just gawping at me, whispering to their parents or friends, etc). I tried to hide my legs. I hated them. Then I saw HTTYD with my best friend and I had no idea about the ending. I cried not because it was sad, but it was the first time that I'd seen someone like me (someone with a disability) in a movie that wasn't depressed or complaining their life was over because they couldn't do anything, and their life was going to be terrible. It was the first time a movie (let alone a kids one) was like "yeah, this was sad that it happened, but it's not the end of the world. life goes on and you can still have a great life". after the movie came out, I had kids come up to me and say I was "like Hiccup". they knew what my disability was without even having to ask. They weren't afraid of me. the whispers changed from "mommy what's wrong with her?" to "Mommy look, she has cool legs like Hiccup!" It didn't last unfortunately, I still get questions and the ones who did say that I was like Hiccup were a small number to begin with, but it did teach SOME that people like us exsist, and we aren't something sad you should pity, but regular people
@sophieslife81155 ай бұрын

4:30 - Toothless stayed about the same size in the books (though he was expected to grow later...), Hiccup never rode him - there was a different dragon he rode, a Windwalker, which first appeared in the 5th book. That dragon was described to look a bit more like Toothless in the movies, though, so movie Toothless might be an amalgamation. 7:36 - there wasn't a character named Astrid, but she's almost certainly based on an existing character named Camicazi - the characters are pretty similar, and both name their dragons Stormfly. (I'm glad they changed the name, though, it would've sounded odd, especially without visible spelling)
@Cuddleshock6 жыл бұрын
Astrid wasn't "willed into existence" out of nowhere; she was adapted from the wild, crazy blonde girl Camicazi from the books (in which she and Fishlegs are Hiccup's best friends).

Julie Unicorn - They have an official release date. It is March 1st 2019. Director/screenwriter Dean Deblois wanted a release date four years apart from HTTYD 2. But then Universal acquired the rights to DreamWorks in the middle of production. It was nearly scrapped from their upcoming releases. Universal actually shut down the film The Croods 2 while the creative team was working on it. Just pulled the rug out from under their feet and said "This movie is not no longer happening. Stop everything you are doing." Universal was not seeing any real critical or commercially viable prospects with How to train Your Dragon 3 due to it's predecessor's only "moderate" success. Dean Deblois, the producer Bonnie Arnold and book series author Cressida Cowell not only fought to keep HTTYD 3 on the road to release. They fought to keep their script in tact. The compromise they came to was it's current release date. After all this creative team went through. Let's just be appreciative this is being released at all.

Fact #16 is false, Hiccup does not ride Toothless at all in the book. This is due to the fact Toothless doesn't really grow. Instead, Hiccup rides another dragon called Windwalker.
@MegaBlueKitten7 жыл бұрын
But at the end Hiccup says that in his entire lifetime, Toothless does not grow very much and that it will take a very long time for him to reach the size of most of the colossal dragons seen in the books.
@themusicofthenight27787 жыл бұрын
MegaBlueKitten Well if you have the copy of the first book that has the second movie cover and 2 novellas it is revealed that Toothless was a baby in the books and that he grows larger
@thunderwhip70567 жыл бұрын
Not large enough to ride though
@akstune47547 жыл бұрын
Damn guys. He's a Searenderous Giganticus Maximus (probably spelt it wrong), and when Hiccup dies he will only be the size of a saber-tooth driver dragon and it will take thousands of years for him to get to the size of Furious, then a few thousand MORE years he'll shrink again. So while he is the most deadly species to exist, Hiccup will probably never learn that.

Fun fact: Drago's Bewilderbeast lost its left tusk in the second movie, just like Drago lost his left arm, and in the first movie Hiccup loses his left leg, just like Toothless loses his left tail fin, not many people know this, but what's also cool is that its meant to show the connection between people and their dragons. _Also_ Drago loses his arm in the same way his Bewilderbeast did; by dragons.

My son Mason LOVES these movies. He likes the cartoons but he LOVES the moves better. Do we really have to wait until 2019 for no. 3? AAwwww
@Silver54ful7 жыл бұрын
Frank James Bailey- It's far better to wait and receive a high quality film then for a cruddy film to be put out on a whim. Trust me, DreamWorks is aware of what they are capable of. And even if they don't know personally how much your son loves their films. They know through word of mouth the fan base in general love what they've done. So in return, they want their last installment to be done at top notch level. For certain that's what you, your son and all of the rest of us fans deserve when we spend our time and money. So what we need to do is be patient. The wait will be worth it in the end. :)

I just saw the Hidden World in theaters. I absolutely loved it, and it was such a satisfying, yet bittersweet ending to the series that I grew up with. I'll have to get my hands on those graphic novels!
@lizarr71762 жыл бұрын
I think it's important to remember that this trilogy was adapted from books. To an extent, the creators stayed true to the books, and that was important to them. The ending in the third movie is in fact how the books ended. The dragons all left. It was a way to explain the legends and myths of dragons, but also the fact that they there clearly are no dragons today, and no evidence of them ever really existing. So, if anything, the books are at fault for this ending. In order to understand if the way the ending didn't fit super well was an issue of the movies doing a poor adaptation, or a tonal issue present in the books to begin with, one would have to read the books and watch the movies. I have never read the books myself, so I can't say.
