The reality is that they think about money that would be involved with making these changes. The white girl got so much while the other guys got less because at the end of the day they took an employee who showed potential as an employee also in PR. They keep thinking about business first. They're like other corporations. Just this one doesn't use animals, it uses people, and tries to lessen impact on environment. In reality these two are to them selling points. If they cared so much, they would help the workers. But this would have a cosequence - if they did help the factories and shop floors they prices of cosmetics would have to go up. And a lot of people already see these things are too expensive sadly. A lot of people cannot afford them. If they raised prices, they would lose customers (there is more poor people than rich people, so you want to sell to poor people above all). So all in all - it's a business. If you ran a business you would also have to balance all these things.

She perhaps needs to think about the strain on the workers lifting heavy things and having to bend and stretch into a machine. The company could end up with law suites down the line. I would have immediately been finding ways to stop that and as she comes from a PR background with the company she should have been more aware. What happens if one or more of the workers hurt themselves and can no longer do the physical stuff? She was concentrating on improvements for cash flow rather than the problems that the workers face now or in the future. Health and safety is not just about making sure the building is wired properly etc., it is about reducing risk on everything and especially the workers.

it's literally part of training to greet people. however, it's only supposed to happen once. from then on, employees should be communicating with each other so they know when to let people be. if there are any particular stores you have in mind that are too pushy, you can actually contact the company about it! (the messages actually get passed along to the shops, too. [I know this because it happened in my shop once])

Pretty much all retail stores are like that, I worked for one comoany that required us to ask the customers name and use it 3 times during the transaction..But I also get where your coming from because I like to just go in and browse and not be bothered..I'll usually just say that I dont need any help and thats that. But I also know its not the employees fault.

I worked for Lush cosmetics in the UK. I worked for the company for three months over a Christmas period and enjoyed it very much. My colleagues were amazing and I am still in contact with many of them now and my employment was over 4 years ago. I learned so much about the products that even now in my new workplace I still get to (sort of) sell Lush products , namely the shampoo bars , which i found fascinating t hat one could get a lather using cold water that means if you are vacationing or travelling to a country where you wont have access to hot water to wash you can use this product.
@revinaque13429 жыл бұрын
I love Lush, but their products are so expensive!!! I wish they would move some of their production to Southeast Asia, so that the Asian market could get Lush products at a more accessible price. :) On a different note, don't all shampoos lather under cold water?

This was so fake it made me want to vomit. Did it make anyone else wonder why a long term employee with a backbreaking job wasn't insured or paid enough to afford a freaking hearing aid? Why was this same employee forced to work so freaking hard lifting the damn soap out of the bowl when a shovel, or other simple device to help deal with the weight and volume, would make her life infinitely easier and job physically safer? It's always disturbing to watch this show. Every single one of their employees has a similar life and story, but only 4 get any kind tangible pat on the back while we're supposed to be so impressed with the "kindness" of those highest on the company food chain. Why are the production team having to manually mix product? Why is there not an electric mixer for them to use? Also, why on earth do they have to empty those huge bowls by hand - that's really inefficient, but more importantly, very bad for their backs. They should be able to tip the bowl and empty it into a wheeled container (or something). Imagine bending over like that and scooping stuff out every day! Must be an occupational health and safety issue, surely?

Rachel Walton you must have never worked in a factory. All factories require physical exertion
@Zimadonna8 жыл бұрын
As someone who worked in multiple factories, I believe Rachel Walton is completely right. There needs to be some sort of machinery that needs to prevent these workers from ruining their backs. I get that Lush wants to save money and be "handmade" but things like scooping and mixing machinery or tools could at least relieve these worker's poor backs instead of using their hands and bending into the tubs. These people as young as they are no doubt have back problems.
