Back in 1976, as a 10th grade student a Coral Springs High School, we performed this song at district and state contest, receiving a superior rating. What makes me proud of that accomplishment, even today, was that the band was only comprised of 9th and 10th grade students, 34 members in all including percussion. I must say, after listening to UCF, our performance was more dynamic and precise. I really enjoyed hearing it again though.

We did it in Rockway Jr. High for Dade County Band Festival (1971) with a symphonic band of 8th & 9th graders. We also did Marriage of Figaro! Our conductor, Chuck Foster, had some brass ones, no pun intended, LOL. May he rest in peace.

Who wrote this tune, Irwin Allen? Reminds me of "Lost in Space" or "The Time Tunnel". Very dynamic.

Well done, but more low brass/woodwinds would have been awesome. The beauty of this piece is that there are several key points for the lower instruments, that typically don't have those type parts.

The percussion section, mainly the snare drum, is ENTIRELY too loud in the section before the allegro.
