Metal Sonic is canonically faster than Sonic, so that isn't too far fetched to see in this game. Tikal is a spirit-ish being, so she can probably just do whatever the hell she wants. Eggman is built different And then there is somehow Knuckles and Rouge. I suppose those last two are faster than Sonic for gameplay reasons, given they have to traverse more open-areas where as Sonic is stuck to more linear levels. Knuckles and Rouge would need to traverse their larger areas rather quickly.

@@CrispyCousy Most character bios for Metal Sonic explain that he was made to match and even surpass Sonic's speed, not to mention that whenever the two race, he is constantly able to overtake Sonic, even when Sonic is at full speed. And then this video is even proof. Archie also played around with the idea of Metal Sonic being faster than Sonic, however to a much lesser degree. But then again, this is all stuff that happened in the older games/media. Sega could have changed that aspect within the newer mandates for the characters.

That is how it has always gone. Does that not mean Sonic is faster? Aside from that, this video doesn't qualify as proof unless Knuckles is also faster than Sonic... Not even gonna mention Rouge And also; Sonic is significantly faster than Metal Sonic in Archie when he gets serious. Sonic in Archie at his best is even able to move in frozen time via his sheer speed alone.

I'll admit that the Archie part I was using as evidence, was only a single scene of dialogue, and that Archie Sonic is most probably still faster. Most media outside of the games portray the two as equally matched (The OVA for example). Most of my argument is built upon the "Overclock" ability though, where Metal Sonic surges red and white, while gaining a significant boost of speed. The cooldown period is usually when Sonic is able to pass him. My evidence is mostly circumstantial, I'll admit again. It's not too often we get to see the two in a proper head-to-head in modern media.

I think it's mainly because sonic is a junky for adventure and action but at the same time we are not really given context on how long each stage actually goes on for also sonic doesn't aim to beat him up just stop his primary plan and force him to try again and it is said that over the years they developed a unhealthy co dependent relationship together plus bear in mind sonic might have some physical fatigue after who know how long and if memory serves right eggman is mainly a technology guy but is quite physically superior to a large portion of humans even so much as potentially modifying his body just in case let's also keep it in mind that sonic is never running at maximum capacity if he did do that all the time everything would just rip apart which is why it is never really done I would also like to point out that they both like a challenge (sonic & eggman) so it wouldn't be too far fetched with all of this info they continuously do this same thing also the team understand that if sonic gets too bored he will probably be much more annoying and quick to anger which is never good which would also explain the lack of darker emotions because sonic is letting out stress as he does his adventures otherwise they will continuously build up to a unhealthy level

It's because of the characters' gravity values making "heavy" characters descend faster even when they're grounded, like on a slope a la the WJ starting stretch, even though that's not how gravity/weight works IRL. Maybe it should be a compactness/aerodynamism/float value. Whatever it should be called, you need something totally level to get the right speeds. But here, Adventure 1 Tails would likely outpace Adventure 2 Amy and Adventure 1 Amy would be the real last place finisher. Dunno where Big would end up; maybe HE'd take the gold.

I experimented a lot in multiplayer as a kid. And I can definitely understand that Tikal is the fastest. She was goated in emerald hunt because you could cover a ton of ground. Her special moves were pretty decent too.

I dont think people realize that just because you CAN go at the speed of sound, doesnt mean you ALWAYS have to run that fast. Sonic would probably want to preserve more energy by running slower than the speed of sound for most adventures, and also because like it would be easier to maneuver.

Sonic is the fastest thing alive but slows down for his friends which is why he never really seems to be faster than the speed of light in games, plus that’d sorta ruin the game
