SA style is best. I agree with the lack of expression and variation in his poses but I don't have any complaints about his modern style. Should it change? It will eventually. Change is inevitable. A lot of his changes have been brought on by technology limits/capabilities from the various consoles and that tech has stagnated so maybe SEGA just doesn't see the need to push for a new style.

It's safe to say that her Piko Piko Hammer is only the tip of the iceberg that is all the crazy abilities Amy can pull off. She's definitely one of the strongest characters in the series if she can knock out Knuckles just by lightly shoving him!

I know it doesn't really count as a "power" per se but I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that she's the heart of the team. While the boys are off doing the actiony stuff, often times she is handling the more sensitive matters relating to compassion, communication, and such. We see it for the first time in Adventure with Gamma, again in Adv2 with Shadow in the last story, we see it a ton in Sonic X (i know its not canon, but its a good example), Unleashed where she becomes Pickle's assistant, Lost World to a much lesser extent (she seems to be in charge of the small animals' wellbeing after Sonic saves them), Forces where... uh.... (idk, I hate Forces but I know its there) and in the IDW comics with the resistance stuff, and in Frontiers with the Koco. Recap: Sonic = Speed, Tails = Brain, Knuckles = Strength, Amy = Heart. Every Team needs a heart, I think that's pretty important.

I don’t know why the recent Sonic media is trying to “tone down” Amy like in Sonic x Shadow Generations. Can’t they strike a balance of her admiration and love for Sonic, her strength and her gentle and kind heart? Now, I haven't played many modern sonic games, but from the one's I've played, my favorite Amy is SA1. She still likes Sonic, but she isn't exactly hyper-obsessive, (Like in heroes) and she doesn't let Sonic get in the way of her primary goal, which is protecting the bird. And she's able to do other stuff in that game too, like reunite the bird with their family, defeating one of Eggman's robots, (and a pretty powerful one at that) and saving Gamma from getting destroyed by Sonic. Now before any of you people say anything about SA2, I haven't played that game yet, I'm still on SADX. Also this isn't a modern game, but an honorable mention is Amy in CD, simply just because she's really cute in that game.

It doesn't surprise me. If she can SCARE Sonic or Knuckles, you know Amy is not to ne messed with. She even had the best sidekick (Cream). I love that character.

I always had a headcanon that if Amy went Super she would be able to utilize certain powers that even Sonic couldn't such as healing or something to go in line with her compassion. I do think with time she could genuinely reach speed to rival Sonic I've always wanted to see how she would handle Chaos Energy.

Even though she is done dirty in almost every game prior to The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose is still one of my favorite characters. And I'm really happy with how she is represented in the modern day.

So if sonic is a fiction within fiction character, I wonder if the chaos emblems are the bridge between the two worlds because “thoughts become power”.

For me, it's not that Amy is super strong, her being on par with Knuckles feels wrong to me. In my head, it's more her hammer is magical & is basically more like the spring hammer from Breath of the Wild rather than it being it's a big heavy hammer. I mean it can take different shapes and sizes (as noted as the forms it can take in the Advance games with it getting giant and the fact the other characters can use it when paired with her in 3), and is modeled after a Japanese toy hammer. For me, Knuckles and Amy's strength levels are a difference of "knuckles bench presses at the gym while Amy does morning jogs and yoga." Her scene in OG Generations I feel also shouldn't be take seriously because that was written mostly by a pair who knew nothing except like a vague outline of her character. Same in Battle where, at the very least in the English release script, so much of it feels like it's a weird reflection of the canon at the time. The folks making the game overheard Shadow was coming back in Heroes, but wrote him as if the ending of SA2 didn't happen and had no idea about the amnesia plot. Like on the surface Battle seems to be fine, but put under a microscope, you realize it's like a weird warped bubble, reflecting the canon around it, but largely being it's own separated thing because the moment you try to have it touch any comparable prior game, the "bubble" pops and it all falls apart, like how the fact the characters seemingly had no idea what a Death Egg was. Or how Chaos is labeled as "The Guardian of the Chaos Emeralds and appears whenever they're in danger" which contradicts the whole series because it makes you ask "then where was he prior to SA1?" And that's even if you excuse the fact that he was the main threat of SA1. So no, to me, it's that Amy has a magic hammer lending to her "strength," and the fact she's the more acrobatic focused one of the main 4, not that she has comparable strength to Knuckles. Granted it's felt like her hammer is being heavily downplayed recently because the tidbit of it being a toy hammer has seemingly been forgotten aside from the visual in her Classic form. And her bracelets in Battle? Granted in the Japanese script it's implied they're super heavy, but I'm feeling more like they're like Thor's hammer where, unless "attuned" to them, they come across as the heaviest things on the planet. OR, hear me out, the screen shake in Battle when she drops them is purely visual, not conducive of their actual weight, IF NOT BOTH REASONS. Also on her hammer, come on, it's a missed opportunity to not use Sonic X's depiction and saying "it's from hammerspace," like come on, it's RIGHT THERE. Also personally I don't thin her invisibility in '06 should be counted as canon. Like unless it makes her invincible, then we can take that part of it to explain what's going on, but as far as I know it doesn't, but that's what I choose to believe what it's intention was, especially since it would fit with how Team Rose's Team Blast in Heroes basically gave the team all the safety nets, an invincibility and a shield.

Amy is certainly stronger than many give her credit for... Cream still gets my vote for most OP Sonic Girl though... She's the kind of cute you'd need a heart of stone to say no to, and she's easily the biggest pacifist among Sonic's core group of allies, but Chaos help you if you manage to piss off the adorable, little flying bunny and adorable, little Chao of Doom. Also, Scary thought: Amy, Blaze, Cream. The Sol Emeralds, Chaos Emeralds, or other suitably powerful artifacts to catalyze a Super Transformation for all three. All three are pissed off, the guys are all down for the count, and none of the three have reason to hold back. I almost feel sorry for whatever Eldritch abomination brings about such a situation.
