It would be nice if they took some inspiration from AoS, and gave you Warp Points for doing things the gods want (units dying, wounds being taken/given, casting spells, etc). That way, you're rewarded for acting in accordance with the motivations of Chaos. It would also help if you could just natively bank those Warp Storm points from turn to turn. As it stands, you have no control over whether Warp Storm does anything for you.

What bothers me the most about this codex is that Tzeentch Daemons have so very few spells to choose from, as well as the fact that really only HQ Tzeentch units are psykers. You know, the Daemons that directly come from Tzeentch, the God of Magic, have only ONE DISCIPLINE to choose spells from. Remember how in 8th edition, Horrors could cast spells? They were kinda limited, but they could still try.

I think the "magic" Tzeentch units have is represented in their shooting attacks, which is arguably better than representing it in a Psychic phase.

A note about using the Nurgle +1 damage spell on drones. The majority of attacks drones do are Malefic and so their damage characteristic cannot be buffed...just the swords of the riders.

The FaQ has to say the mod specifically alters malefic weapons. The spell does not.

It's kinda sad but those aren't very helpful against volume of fire. Flame weapons eat my units like candy.

I think the issue with daemons, besides how plain jane this dex is, GW values our daemon saves wayyyy to much. Were paying a premium for a daemon save and yet its basically just as good as an inv 95% of the time. why am i paying 12 points for a t3 model? couldnt tell ya.

im fine with the daemonic save system its just tzeentch that i hate, you just cant fight it with shooting as very little will get through that save, even weapons that are supposed to punch through anything. also ignoring the ap system as a whole is pretty dumb but i guess we already have quite a few other armies that do that

Ah yes chaos daemons. The worst constructed book in th whole game! Nurgle and Slaanesh lost their identity, Tzeentch has hardly any spells and Khorne is fine. Stratagems? Relics? Warlord traits? Better not to speak of them. Generally don’t like to be negative, but outside of Khorne and Daemon saves, to me the book seems poorly executed. A ton of good ideas to build upon though, I am hopeful they will do them justice in the future!

Manefestation is such a thematically good rule. Theres a handful of good data sheets but otherwise poor codex

@@18120polls 2cp for -1 to hit. Nurgle should also have 4+DSv in melee, especially for their non troops. All greater daemons should have a 4+ in melee to except LOC

Also, Warp Points being accrued randomly, while thematically appropriate for Chaos, is less than ideal. On average you'll get 4 points per turn, and you need to jump through hoops to "bank" them from turn to turn. It wouldn't be as bad if the effects you got didn't cost as many warp points. Nice idea, poor execution.

Nurgle got compeltely shafted. Their spells, stratagems, WL traits, and relics are almost exclusively based around dealing mortals and taking objectives. There is no defensive ability. How the fuck does a bloodthirster have access to a 5+++, better saves, mortal wound FnP on 4+, and a wound cap, while the only fkn thing a Great Unclean One gets is -1D in melee... for 30 points.

Doesn't the Demonic Invulnerability just ignore any AP modifiers? So it doesn't matter if a weapon has -5AP, it's still just a +4/+5 DSv

Hello, very nice video, as always but as monotheist slaanesh player I need to correct one thing : Tranceweaver's ability improves the AP of 1 "daemonettes" "core" unit so it doesn't work on the fiends (sadly yes). It can improve the Seekers AP tho. Other note : the daemon prince is very good soure of reroll 1s to hit for cheap 150pts without the wings, in slaanesh it keeps up with daemonettes move. Thanks again !

As much as I have been enjoying them I wish warpstorm was done differently I rarely if ever get more than one of those affects on a full battleground and typically only roll 2 or 3 points worth. Wish they were a bit easier to get or the things you bought with them became perminant like with the blood tithe

And I mean, whatever the size of the game, you’re limited by 8 at most. I guess there could be some units that generate warp storm points in addition to the 8d6, or maybe like in AoS where the more you please the god, the more you get warp points.

I was quite astonished that the only mono-subfaction perk is DEITY detachments being allowed to upgrade GD’s to Exalted. There doesn’t seem to be any benefit to monotheist detachments if you’re not taking a mega HQ, nor to monotheist armies whatsoever. Given how aggressively most new codices are policing internal soup (Behemoth & Leviathan, Night Lords & Word Bearers, etc), it’s remarkable how loose these rules are. That said, the arks of omen stuff goes right over my head.

Exalting greater daemons isn’t restricted to mono god armies, you just need to have a daemon only army. The only thing that mono god armies get is the god specific warpstorm abilities, most of which are pretty bad tbh. There’s no reason to be a mono god atm.

Slaanesh daemons will always be a great love of mine. I still have about a hundred Juan diaz daemonettes from my days in 3rd ed and with arks of omen I can field most of them at the same time again. It's glorious.

I got Be'lakor recently, so I'm upgrading my Khorne Daemons to Chaos Undivided. Currently working on the Tzeentch aspect. I was looking at Slaanesh, and I'm not entirely impressed. As fast as they are, a lot of those units are in trouble against most armour

In case of flamers. I played them post nerf and yes, its sad that they dont auto-hit anymore, decreasing their defensive capabilitys. But the offense is still some of the silliest i saw.

I’ve been super stoked about the AoO points decreases. It’s made some of the less appealing options playable and fun. Only started using Flamers since their nerf but I still think they are an amazing value for their durability at range, firepower and points cost.

Random question can you run belakor without doing his army of renown? So just run him with other greater daemons etc? Interested in daemons and mostly a more monster mash :)

I think the codex has the potential for worst internal balance in 9th. IMO I wouldn't mind seeing Daemons getting the AoS treatment and go mono god codices, It will allow better balances amongst units per book and also allow them to maintain their god specific personality and can go further down that road, and keep Belakor to bring everyone back into a single fold but thats my unwanted 2 cents.

Hello I am new and have a question if anybody could answer. I want to build a daemon army, I have purchased some models but upon arrival and inspection I realised that they may not work together. I have brought 1x great unclean one 1x daemon prince 1x pox bringer 1x infernal enrapturess 1x blood master 1x bloodletter unit And the bit that throws me off I was gifted a death guard combat patrol, can I use this in the same list? If so, what disadvantages or advantages does it pose for me. Thanks

Daemons are hard countered by several factions so the win rate is misleading. The only way to play competitively is to cherry pick the best units and it is suicide and therefore discouraged to go monogod

you can only take favour of the dark master with knights as a favoured ability, the tzeentch one cant be used

It can if you don't use disciples of Be'lakor, and just bring them as standard Dreadblade allies though, not sure if I said otherwise in the video :)

The rules in the Daemon Codex make it pretty clear that God aligned daemons can be taken as allies, with no usual penalties, with the respective Chaos legion. Khorne Daemons with World Eaters and so on.

@@albertofrankdiaz6664 I mean blame the flamers who tend to be run as sets of 18. In terms of win rate they are good but they def feel gutted in terms of how they should or would play. Nurgle isn't tanky, Slannesh lost fight first, Khorne is the least changed and Tzeench has no spells despite being the god of magic. t-sons have I think 12 unique spells, Tzeench has 6 in total. The sub faction of the god has more to work with than his demons do. It's likely it will change when Emperor's children get their own codex which allows them to be split like how it is in AOS but until then it's kind of bad.

@@Duncecap64 TSons have a lot of spells, but they're really not that great. The problem comes from having a psychic heavy army, so then only a few powers are actually useful and the rest are just there to pad out the list lol

Like the guy who is in charge of magic has less spells than the guys who just want to study it doesn't make any freaking sense. It doesn't matter that they are bad, having the options at all is good for fluff.

Don’t forget for only 20 points more Skarbrand is def worth the upgrade over generic bloodthirster, his smash ability for his carnage axe ignores invuln saves with a massive amount of dmg, I recently used him to one shot Trajan and then run amok in a custodes back line

So if the codex splits up in God specific factions including mortals + pure Daemons undivided, you wouldn't be able to play what exactly?

@@stomptrooper1896 an army of only undivided daemons (all 4 gods) representing a demonic incursion. This is unless they make disciples of Be’lakor less restrictive (i.e. allowing greater daemons). In other-words splitting daemons into units in codex’s: thousand sons, death guard, world eaters, emperors children would screw over current daemon players. And yes yes I know change happens and you have to adapt but it does suck to have your whole collection made unplayable when it takes a lot of time and money to buy and paint.

Been playing some pure nurgle daemons and have to say beasts are quite fun to get into the midfield as they are so awkward to remove. Also would point out that mammon and scabiathrax the forgeworld hqs have some nice use as they buff all nurgle daemons not just core. Beasts are quite a bit better when you reroll 1s
