BYU went further this season at 10-2 overall play and 7-2 conference play than anyone expected or predicted. Once they rolled around to week 5, they never fell out of the AP 25. They had a winning season.... much better than last year and proved they belong in the Big 12 conference. They'll do better... and worse down the road just like every other team. It's football... you don't control the entire board. There were other teams in this conference that were expected to be major contenders, and they fell flat on their face without so much as even being bowl eligible. They'll come back better and stronger next season once their teams figure some stuff out. Last year they were 2-7. This year they were 7-2 in conference play and flipped the script. This isn't a bad place to be worth a bowl game still to play this year. The trouncing BYU is taking right now on their season is unwarranted.

From an Utah fan (boy we have a sorry-ass team this year) I think BYU should be very happy with their season. BYU probably punched above their weight class this season. 9-3 seems about right for them, and 10-2 is probably their ceiling and they reached it. I expect them to come back next year very strong unfortunately for me.

The right one is: BECAUSE the 4 elite teams at the top of the Sagarin 2nd strongest conference in the US won their last games by more than a TD, including one against a Top 25 team, ALL 4 should make a massive jump in the rankings. No other conference finished this strong. This is the case for 3 teams into the CFP.

I like it! While it's a bitter bite of humble pie to eat, knowing that my Cougs lost out of the Big 12 Championship, when we were riding the hype train for so long, it really just shows that we have an awesome conference. I feel like the national view is that with Texas and OU gone, and BYU here, this is the new Mountain West. That is a mistake and they should not treat this conference this way. None of these teams are pushovers. As fun as it is to listen to Drake make fun of teams losing at the beginning of the year, the truth is that everyone of these teams has the upside to compete. How many teams ended up with winning seasons? How many have 9 wins! That's awesome. Now we all need to perform in whatever Bowl games or playoff games we are placed in. This is a good conference!

To be honest, I am far more impressed with the BIG 12 than with any other conference in the entire nation. Now mind you I'm a BYU fan. I'm a Deion Sanders fan... Colorado? not so much. To have that many members of the conference sitting at 10-2... not because they were beat by the SEC, but because they beat each other up. Wow! The rankings? They are a joke. Look how long it took them to allow anybody except the SEC into the top six. Is the SEC really that powerful? No! Do they have great teams? Yeah... but so does the BIG 12. The fix? We need to do away with the rankings when it comes to the CFP. The only teams that should be in the CFP are the conference champions. Give every conference champion an automatic bid into the CFP. If you can't win your conference you don't deserve to be a national champion. Period.

I appreciate your acknowledgment of the improvement BYU made in the second half. Definitely some good half-time adjustments. However, I fear we had some real problems to deal with in inaccuracy in passes and some poor execution. BYU’s lack of an assertive and consistent offense was exposed over the last four games. Even the blowout against Kansas State was entirely due to the defense. Idk if I agree. The commish for sure would want Colorado in the BIG 12 championship game. But BYU? I think Colorado vs ASU would be the biggest money maker. ASU fans travel well and have a massive alumni base AND there are a ton of ASU and Colorado fans in Texas which is where the game is. @UnmanWeston What about the fact that BYU beat #9 SMU (on the road), both teams lost to Kansas, and BYU beat K. State by a lot more than Iowa St. did? Also, Iowa St. did not play any ranked teams (other than K. State). Whereas, BYU played a total of 3 top 25 ranked teams (SMU, K. State, and ASU) during the season. None of that is considered?

BYU scored 13 against KU. At Home. ISU scored 36 in Arrowhead. BYUs win against Utah was defense and special teams. Otherwise you lose that game badly. ISU was down to its 7th string linebacker and riddled with injuries during its 2 game lull. BYU played with fire. ISU at this point is significantly better than BYU at this point. Remember what Campbell did to BYU in Provo last year. Underestimate the Cyclones at your own risk.

That same Utah team you speak about had ISU dead to rights as well just a week ago. That KU team that you boast about scoring 36 on hung 45 on ISU and only 17 on BYU... ISU also played with fire and barely beat a bad UCF team at home that BYU thumped on the road. ISU is far from way better than BYU and got in on some really stupid tie-breakers. No it isn't stupid but the literal Big 12 tiebreaker. ISU defeated a better slate of opponents in conference. Welcome to conference play. SMU is irrelevant, as is beating the Hawkeyes at Kinnick. The mathematical measure of strength of schedule of defeated opponents is a longstanding tiebreaker in the league: it is one that ISU has been on the losing end of before. But BYU is a virgin, so I don't expect you to realize how it works.
