Drake you are exactly right on, there is so much pride at West Virginia football, it’s all are state has and mountaineer fans are so passionate about winning in this state and when they loose a game you know they still hung in there and competed, that mountaineer football!!!

@@LockedOnBig12I disagree just a tad with whom you are suggesting and others are suggesting. I would avoid Nick, Jimbo, Rich (former WVU HC) and others like them and focus on someone like Doc Holliday or Byron Leftwich or some other individual that has not coached at the A4 level but has extensive coaching experience and success and strong Appalachian and Atlantic Coast connections and background.

He’s got a point about hiring a local legend, people loved that BYU hired Ty Detmer as an OC until he was the worst OC BYU has ever had, but we still love Ty Detmer. He’s our Heisman winner and only coached for a season, how could we hate him!

WVU had never beat a team that finished ranked under Neal Brown. We are one of three power conference teams that haven’t been ranked in the past six seasons. The defense has been awful besides Brown’s first two seasons when he had a different defensive coordinator. I wish nothing but the best for Neal, his family, and any staff and players that leave but today I am a hopeful Mountaineer again.

Saw that the buyout was almost $10M. It it just me or are these buyouts crazy? Seems everyone is firing coaches after only a couple of years, how can schools (unless you have SMU or Stanford money) afford this?
@danasaunders7877 сағат бұрын
People realize that he doesn't get the $9+ million up front, right? It's paid out over several years.
@arturobalderas61069 сағат бұрын
Idk if Rich rod is the guy for WVU… yes he won BCS games and was probably the most successful coach WVU had, but that was in the 2000s when very few teams were running spread and high tempo offenses. Now everyone runs that kind of offense. Jimbo Fischer is a west Virginia native, I think, correct me if I’m wrong… but if he couldn’t get it done at TAMU and their deep pockets, how can he get it done at WVU??? Not to mention the kind of athletes that WVU was famous for recruiting back in the day would have left in a heartbeat if programs like Texas, Michigan, Bama, or Miami were offering NIL deals that would put your family in the generational wealth category. Idk if WVU can do that. Whoever they get is going to have to be charismatic and competent to win games and conference championships, and also be so convincing to recruits to want to stay at WVU despite how big a bag other programs would pay to have their (players) services.
@michaelwall33936 минут бұрын
I have long suggested that WVU try to hire Doc Holliday or Byron Leftwich as their coach or Eddie George or Keeler from Sam Houston State.

When WVU was playing LSU they were not a mid major lol. But yes Neal was long overdue never should have extended him.

@@LockedOnBig12no you are incorrect. It was a BCS/Power Conference and to educate you a bit the last two years of BCS the AAC unlike the PAC did not lose their Autonomy/Power status until 2014 and start of the NY6/CFP4. Just FYI.

Yeah, go with Rich Rodriguez. Wasn’t he the coach back in the days where you were national championship contenders? When you had Pat White and Steve Slaton.

Wanna push back a little about your stereotype of a “WV guy” head coach. We’ve never really had a guy like that - if anything WVU is known for exciting and innovative offensive football (Rich Rod/ Stew/Holgorsen). Neal is from Appalachia so he knows the region and recruited pretty well here. Unfortunately he lived and died by an unexciting brand of football and loyalty to certain players and staff who were way out of their element.

As a WVU fan I don't care what you say. I still believe it's the administration is the problem the college as a whole and if we ever pick Rich rod I'm done being a mountaineer fan I don't care if they're winning I don't have better things to do on my Saturdays. But whatever let him make a decision and Mr toll you don't know what West Virginia is about

It's Jimbo or I'm done with WVU Football. We don't need Rich Rodriguez. We don't need a UNLV Head Coach that plays in a Weak Conference. It will be another Neal Brown Thing. Jimbo is a Mountaineer. He knows how to Win and Recruit. Lots of kids will want to play for him because he's a Proven Winner.
@bigdant12917 сағат бұрын
As a WVU alumni and former player, and a WV native I agree we need that bold move, but what we do NOT need is Rich Rod and HELL NO to Jimbo. We need winners not those guys.
@jebbthetrainkid12816 сағат бұрын
I thought Jimbo was a Winner. We let him go then it's a huge MISTAKE. He's done more than anyone who has ever Coached at WVU. Who do you want? The UNLV Coach? We might as well Resign Neal Brown if that's you're choice. Jimbo is West Virginia.

West Virginia's problem is the same thing that's going on right now which is outside opinions coming in and they care about that more than they do their own actual program I mean Face it. I mean you didn't like holgorsen because you gave him too much crap for off-field antics I mean and then WVU and richrod have a love-hate relationship that I don't want to see back and everybody at WVU or even the fans have a problem with living back in the days of the 80s or we were actually really good team but guess what tough we do need to change it has to start with the school not the coaches
@JoKeer807 сағат бұрын
I will surely be upset if they bring in RR, he left us and can go to h***. I will surely be upset if they bring in Jimbo and it doesn’t work because he proved he has done less with more and we need someone who can do more with less. I will surely be upset if they bring in anyone that doesn’t work because the fact is, NB was tied for 2nd in B12 wins the last 2 seasons and was about to bring in 2 fantastic recruiting classes, all while being 13th in NIL and 11th in pay. Now I support the move if Ren already has his guy lined up because the fan base was too toxic to go on and as I did like the man, NB had some serious flaws in his philosophies.
