A great video. You’ve shown that you don’t have to be a hero and send it to get through. They were exciting times at Nolan’s. After we helped out at Nolan’s. We helped the guy who floated before you. We got his car started and he ended up getting to the tip and completing their trip. He was lucky.

Good to see you observe the rules for successful Nolan's crossing. Low tyres, slow pace, tow strap and tow vehicle attached. Also left plenty of time for bottom to settle since previous vehicle.

@Nick Austin Good tips for us all mate. Another one is you can tie up the fan so it doesn't spin. That's for the clutch type fans.
@einfelder82623 жыл бұрын
@Nick Austin Cooling fan flexing and trashing radiators mainly a Toyota problem. We saw a 10 foot high pile of Toyota radiators in Weipa, and that was only a few weeks into the season in 2016. No Patrol radiators. Tarp is a good idea if you have one.

my wife and i did it solo in 2019 the water crossing were up to the wipers as you nosed into every crossing , we crossed nolans un assisted tyres at 15 psi important part is no big splash as you enter ,just cruise it light vehicles float ,so many people who drowned in the day i spent there were vehicles who set up camp further up and came back to nolans with an empty light car most of those didnt do the ott they just drove the pdr and just drove to nolans to have a go

By the way the old tele. track started at Musgrave so up untill late 89 the track started to become bitumen & bypass creeks by building floodways, eg a bridge over the wenlock river.After nolans you should have continue north to the old crossing at the Jardine river where the one vehicle barge was used.

Great stuff. It would be very interesting to know what exactly caused those cars to fail at Nolan’s Brook. Faulty joints on their snorkels? Cracked snorkel? To know how to test a snorkel before going underwater with it would be very helpful.
@Franksssss3 жыл бұрын
Alot of people fitting snorkels wether "professionally" or not don't silicone the joints when going together. Alot don't silicone up the drain in the airbox either and if a bit of dirt or something jambs it open then it'll suck in water like a vacumn. To test the snorkel, have the car idling and block of the snorkel head. If the car starts to die, good chance snorkel is pretty sealed. If it's not it'll simply draw air from where it leaks and run all day with the head blocked off.

Watched with great interest as I'm heading up the Cape next year and likewise, doing it solo for the first time in a new D-Max that I haven't even picked up yet so definitely wouldn't want to be drowning that at Nolan's.
