Your earlier videos helped solve some of my problems with UE! I'm glad I can now turn the tables to give back the help and avoid some headaches for people learning chaos :'D

Thanks for this. Anyone cant find the option actor>chaos>create cache manager, you have to enable in plug ins first. search chaos then check chaos caching :) Works awesome thank you and i have been looking for this for months!! Literally.

For me it was a complete surprise that the chaos actually does work in the final render even though it can't be previewed in the sequencer. I thought this caching thing was the _only_ way to have chaos in the render. But it's still probably the best way since you have more creative control.

Yeah I think it's a bit hard to use and the info is not all there hence why I made the video. I hope they follow up on usability of this in the near future as it is an awesome tool

Thanks for both videos. I tried to move the location of the chaos sim with changing the location of the GC_Sphere and CC_manager in the sequencer but it didn't work. However from your previous video, I added a CC_Player and matched the Cache Collection and Observed Components with the CC_Manager and then keyframed the Start Time from CC_Player and put the Cache Mode to Static Pose and the sim works, but you also can keyframe the Transform to change the location,rotation and scale of the chaos sim in the sequencer. I think this is good for when changing the scene frequently and don't want to go and re-record the sim again. You can just move the already recorded sim that you have.

Thank you for taking the time to post your findings. I wanted to do a sequence animating a sim along a spline but was having trouble. I'll try this when I get the chance and probably come back to ask you more questions lol Cheers

Hi thank you so much for the kind words. The mic I'm using is Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun. I'd love to invest in a studio mic but I'm using what I used to use for shooting video and films for now :)

Not to my knowledge. I think you prob wanna use niagara for skeletal meshes. Unless you wanna make the skeletal mesh into a static mesh, then you can you chaos on it.

thanks a lot for the tutorial. helps a lot. any idea how to add a niagara system based on the Data interface inside the sequencer. One I play the chaos cache the breaking data disappear. Thanks

Hey so I know that @Schuilenburg Film has done it before with both chaos and niagara. I've been meaning to do a test scene with both as well. When I know how to do it exactly, I'll post an update. @@Flipside3D thanks a lot for your help and for the links. So far I have not been able to succeed. I've read somewhere that you had to "activate breaking data on playback" but I can not see any such option in project settings. I guessing the geometry collection cache system needs to collect and store the breaking data or we need a way to also cache the niagara system but I don't find these options. Thanks again for your help

Hey man! Thanks for the tutorial. I wanted to ask you if you know I can do this but with a static mesh. So fracturing it from a still position. Is this possible? Thanks!

Hey I'm not 100% sure what you mean. But if you mean whether static meshes can be still fractured without moving then yes. Just put it on the floor or disable gravity. Look into damage threshold options to control how much force is needed to break a fractured group

안녕하세요. 해당 방법을 따라하여 GC을 선택하고 [액터 - 카오스 - 캐시매니저 생성]을 누르면 Cache모드에 [플레이, 스테틱]밖에 표시되질 않습니다. 블루프린트로 직접 매니저를 만들면 녹화가 뜨던데 어느부분이 달라서 튜토리얼과 다르게 보이는걸까요? 답변주시면 감사하겠습니다.

논리적으로 생각했을 때에는 문제가 없어야 하는데, 언리얼이 워낙 이상한데서 뭐가 안되고 이런게 많아서, 꼭 테스트 레벨에서 테스트 해보시고 진행하세요~

Hey Malvezzi, could you explain a bit in detail what's happening? You kinda have to watch the previous video with this one to see what I was talking about. I should've laid it out a bit better. Anyway if you could give me a bit more detail I might know what is happening

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by weird but you could try increasing your sequence framerate higher and tweaking the shutter speed settings so there is less motion blur

Ok I am running into a few technical challenges your videos are extremely helpful 1. can i simulate a chaos geometry collection with the actor being moved in the sequencer? example is an object flying and hitting something 2. is it possible to rotate the final cache is 1 is not possible... i got a similar effect i wanted by dropping the object onto another from gravity, but cannot seem to be able to rotate the final cache would grandly appreciate any help asap

Thanks for the kind words, I am pretty sure no2 is possible. Just not sure exactly what needed to be rotated, the cache actor or the geometry collection. As for no.1 when I tried it, it didn't work but theoretically you could set up a blueprint so that the object is animated and simulated in runtime and then you record that into the cache. Also I think I saw a tutorial some time ago about this. Search chaos sequencer and look for the shorter specific videos.

Hey man for your first question have you tried to combine the chaos cache recording with the tape recorder function that for sure can record physics from an actor. Sound a bit like a cheap diy solution but it might work? .. I'm runing the same issue but can't test it right now.

@@Ubjustu Maybe I am not setting up the take recorder properly, but i did not get it to work :/ one quirk is that runtime needs to be initialized before take recorder is setup my first attempt, was recording the take recorder and the cache at the same time. that did not work. going to attempt an alternative variants

@@faradaysinfinity i did a quick test and managed to make it work, select your chaos geometry, go to actor/chaos/create cache manager, then open the take recorder, drag and drop the meshes you want to be record, set the countdown to zero, put the windows close to the "start simulating the game" hit the start simulating the game and as quick as possible hit the tape recorder red button, at the and of your simulation stop both of them, then go to the tape recorder file and drag and drop the take in your sequencer and finzly drag and drope the cache manager from your outliner in the sequencer. Don't forget to set a start time and ad an In point and an out point to the cashe manager. You may have to tweak it for a good synchronization with the take, also you have to hide the originals assets that were" take recorded " I can't imagine this is the way to go but until we find a better solution this one king of work. Sorry english is not my native language, hope you understand what i'm saying 🙃

Hello! I am using Unreal Engine 5.1.1, and have (as far as I believe at least) done everything that you have. But in multiple attempts, the chaos animation show up in sequencer, but never in the renderer. I have keyed the chaos cache manager's start time. Is there any setting that I am missing? One visual difference which I don't know if matters is that my chaos cache manager track is fully grey, and not stippled with lines above the keys of the start time below. Im doing this for an upcoming exam so any help is appreciated ': D

Hi, I know someone who recently used chaos in a cinematic with UE 5.1.1 so pretty sure it works. I'd track back and make a new project, do a very simple test to see if the process you are following works. Do that, and you will have some ground to start debugging your problem.

Sadly the chaos break data coupled with Niagara only works in runtime. Doesn't work in sequencer atm. Hopefully fix is coming.

I've just rendered a sequence using chaoscache and was able to control the timing. Have you set the cache to static pose and set up the start and end time in sequencer?

Hi !! Thx for the video that was really helpful :) Do you know if there is any way to mix this with a niagara fx working with the chaos ? I tried to find informations about caching niagara fx but it seems not possible atm so if anyone has a solution to add the niagara fx particles used with the chaos simulation in the sequencer i would be really grateful :))) Thx again for the tutorial !

@@aicyp9992 Hey so if you are trying to get Niagara FX working with the chaos break/trailing data, it won't work in sequencer. Apparently Epic has stated this in a forum or something and they will update it in the future. However you can put a chaos cache manager and a niagara fx system separately in the same sequence. They won't talk to each other with data of course but you can still manually sort of make it work.
