I have only played 7th edition, but I have converted some older scenarios and it has been pretty straightforward. I have onboarded about a dozen players this year and have found the current system is easy to explain. Even when players have low skills, the percentage system makes sense to them based on real world experience. “Would your investigator be above average here? Average? Oh, below average! Odds aren’t as good you will do this well.” They get it.

I've never had a problem with any of the editions, and translating everything in old editions to 7th is a complete breeze.

I didn't have an issue coming back. I played in college and the Pandemic brought me back!!! I picked up the starter set and then I've been collecting the other books at a maddening pace(pun intended!) I'm disappointed I missed Cthulhu Britannica but I'm hoping chaosium works out a deal with the CB Publishers to maybe update it for 7th edition ( subtle hint!)

Grappling is like encumbrance, almost no RPG system does it _well_, the best you can hope for is comprehensible. =)

Really interesting and logical description of design decisions. You know what I wish? I wish that the people that don't like 7th edition would just shut up about it. It is six years later. 7th is here. No one is forcing you to use it. There is no 7th edition product that isn't easily converted, on the fly, to 6th or earlier. Continuing to harp on it isn't contributing to the community. If anything, it potentially chases new players away.
