Anyone complaining about the GM please, by all means, post a video of your own. I'm sure RQ sales will rocket watching 4 hours of you debating rules minutiae and droning on and on about your knowledge. On second thought, pls don't, that's what D&D is for. Dave keeps a good pace, talks about lore only when necessary to help the players understand their place in the world, and generally runs a fun game.

Rune spells go on Strike Rank 1 regardless of points in the spell, unless there are magic points put in. No preparation delay.

These has been great to watch! I have the -90s second version edition of RQ in a box somewhere, but haven't really played it much. I have been eyeing the newest version a lot lately though because Glorantha as a setting is very interesting and because the rule system seems great, maybe bested only by WFRP. Thanks all!

I currently run a WFRP game (got nearly all the 4th edition books(Collector edition Core)) and really want to suspend it to run Rune Quest (Got the Core Rule, Bestiary, Sourcebook, Mythology, Red book of Magic and Game Master stuff). Sadly I would want to PLAY in RuneQuest. I currently play in an Earthdawn gamer and my GF runs me a solo Pathfinder 1e campaign.

Back in the day, our house rule was that severed limbs flew 1m per point caused more than needed to sever.

I love everything about these VoDs. One thing though, it would be cool if the cam quality of everyone could be as good as Dave's ❤

Just started watching this stream of Runequest and i have never played it, but have played DnD for many years. For those who are complaining about James as DM not knowing the rules and the players not fully know their characters abilities etc., how many of you other DMs know the rules fully for every different ttrpg you are a DM for? Same for every player. Which DM or Player knows every rule for every monster, race, situation etc for every ttrpg they play? None of them, not even DnD writers and developers don't know all the rules for DnD, for example Chris Perkins when he DM's he has to look up rules or nerfs them when he doesn't want to look them up (especially when it is on a streaming game). How many DM's adjusts rules? Most of them, and thats because the rules are guidelines and are not rigid. This is even more relevant when none of the players and the DM havent played the game before. So stop complaining about mistakes etc.

i think he knows the rules, but he simplifies. He has four players who are afair new to the system, so its obvious choice

damn combat in this game seems mega complicated.

I remain mystified by Chaosium's record of putting GMs on its channel who don't know the combat rules very well. The Scorpion Man should have attacked a second time on Strike Rank 7 as it says in the monster's description. Varakos' special should not have killed the Scorpion Man. In fact, that decision undermined one of the Scorpion Man's biggest combat advantages, the fact that it can avoid the worst effects of specials/crits when its legs get hit. I understand the desire to keep up the momentum during a stream, but taking 30 seconds between announcing combat and the first die roll to review the monster's stat block won't kill the vibe. What's the point of showcasing a rules system that's different than D&D if the differences aren't highlighted?
@sachagoat2 жыл бұрын
I think showcasing the starter set by having both GM and players new to the system is a good decision. But it is a shame seeing the combat unintentionally nerfed. Scorpionmen are less phased by limb loss and lean heavily on their multi-attack. (Not a huge difference though... a standard scorpionman would have had 3/13 HP remaining and it could just bet a weaker scorpionman).
@davidturner52 жыл бұрын
@@sachagoat The GM works for Chaosium. If your own employees can't get the rules right, that's a problem.

That secondary attack with stinger could prove problematic though. I was thinking of not using it in the first 1-2 melee rounds myself and then see how the battle is going.

Camon, don't be that guy. James is great!
@davidturner52 жыл бұрын
@@ArganArgar I agree that it's strong, but when the scorpion man's outnumbered 2-to-1, I think it's fair to give it the full benefit of its abilities. Given how heavily armored everyone is (except Yanioth) and how high all the combat skills are, the threat's relatively small. Scorpion man poison is slow-acting, so it takes three turns (15 minutes) to take effect. That's plenty of time outside of combat to heal back up to full HP before making the resistance roll. This is what I mean about knowing the rules. There's some interesting drama and roleplaying potential that comes out of being poisoned by scorpion venom. All it takes is a couple of minutes of reading and thought before the adventure to see the potential. Make a sticky note to remind you and put it next to the scorpion man in the book!

This is genuinely awful. I've no idea what Chaosium was thinking of having these players and this GM.

Genuinely curious, what are your issues with it. I really don't watch these kinds of things, this is, in fact, my first, but it seems like fun and has done its job of helping me see what the game is like and how the world works.
