Well done I'm at the other end of the spectrum but still love the simplicity of travelling on a bike where all i had to think about was food , that took up a lot of time, and where to put my tent and then enjoy the view etc. You coped well at the start , it's never easy at the start and I always wondered why I was doing it again. Enjoy.

Thanks for reminding me how beautiful Tenerife is! I've done this many times (Tenerife, Fuerteventura) and indeed, you don't need much clothes and equipment. Just make sure you don't camp up the mountain where it's freezing cold (riding down only takes an hour), and make sure you're not searching for a camping place in the dark to discover in the morning that the place is just one big lava field (like happened to me)!

Getting back on the "wire donkey" after a period of time brings chaos as you described. It's almost like we have never toured before, and have forgotten everything! Really cool video, just come across your channel so good to see as I also love bikepacking. I always find that so many people take far too much gear on their bike. Depends which country you are riding in, but there is always shops for emergencies. I always take enough to fix my bike, but the rest I can get pretty limited gear and camp anywhere tbh. I am going to enjoy watching more of your videos over the coming month. Safe travels

Hi Giant Cheerio. Glad to see that you are back in the saddle again. It looks like you changed your bike and the types of bags that you are using. Is the bike a better fit than the previous one? Before you had a traditional touring bags, and now it looks like you have bikepacking bags. Have you ever explained why you took a year off? At the (re)start, the routines make some times to normalize. Once they are in place, they bring a high security feeling. When everything is constantly moving in your life, you need these daily routines as a stable point. It helps when times become hard. Apart from this, for groceries, money is useless. What matters is to find the store trash and open the lid to find the treasures. In winter it is safe, in summer I wouldn't recommand for health reasons. I got this tip from a czech cyclist.

I have those cradles for 4 years .. you can do what your trying a few way one change the cradle so it points away or you can used the cradle completely and screw direct into that so that way you dont need the bar

Oh lord… my first 1000 km ride with my cargo bike I actually took a freakin 6pack of water with me… I dunno what rode me there but I came to realize that this was insane. Also all the other double or triple items… I always laugh about myself when I think back. You learn as you go. Love your videos

Hi! Next summer I go for bikepacking for the first time, so I look on the Internet for the lot of information I need. Last days I see all youre KZbin post's! Great to see your journey. My plan is to start this summer a small preparation trip in France from Cluny to Orange. Later this year I will try to go from my home (Midwoud, The Netherlands) to my best buddy Bas who lives since a year in the Lorca region in Spain. I want to make also a video report of the trip with my gopro. So i have a question: what kind of program you use to edit the videos while traveling? 1:22 - WHY have you got all of your clothing unpacked from the panniers? Rule no. 1 for air travel: just keep all of your panniers fully closed. Load them as baggage, and take one on board as hand luggage.
