Brutally honest and unashamed during struggles on the road. Documenting your travels in this raw manner is really exceptional. Your battles with anger are so 'real', that I feel compassion for you from my own unresolved and sometimes recurring anger issues. Tormenting one's self with the double-edged sword of righteousness; and then during the editing and commentary having the the compassionate insights was so recognisable. I'm in awe at your tenacity and the story you are sharing with us of your bicycle safari. Travel well.

As a diabetic cycle tourist, I know the angry monster. Not saying you're prediabetic, no diagnosis offered, but if you think you've eaten enough and the troubles are still making you angry, you haven't. I say this for all bikepackers who have days of turning green and ripping their shirt when the trail gets hard. And for those who are diabetic, it's better to eat a little too much than push your blood suger up with anger. Enjoy the ride, eat the produce, ride the pace that feels right. And thanks for the honest presentation of your ride, Giant Cheerio. Some days, even the thing we love gives us the shits. Truth should never hurt. Love from Australia.

That gut feeling will save your life one day and you wouldn't even know it so don't be hard on yourself, I am sure you did the right thing. Having travelled overland from the UK to Singapore I learnt to trust that unexplainable feeling, especially with people.

I'm watching your video as I type this. There are some many things I'd like to say but I only have a few lines to do so. You are what a call a sincere person. You speak your mind. You don't try to mask your feelings. If you think something is shit you say it is shit and not the opposite. I own a mountain bike but I'm not a bikepacker. As such, I see you are finding your way with the use of the bike. You try to stay away from what you should stay away from. You stay close to what you should stay close to. A sincere person does that. A sincere person tries to rid of the bullshit within and welcomes freedom. My personal record is 100K. Yours is many times that. The energy you speak of in this video is within you. Not because you can do 200k or 1000k, but because you have the energy to face what you need to face along the road of life. Godspeed Cheerio

There is a lot of value in showing the reality of the low times, as well as the happy times. I appreciate your honesty, integrity and authenticity to reveal this to your audience. It shows us, that KZbin content creators, nomad lifestyles... Are not a bed of roses, in reality, and can truly be very trying, testing and push you to your limits and that it's quite normal to be outside your comfort zone regularly. You just have the guts to show that, the guts, strength and resilience to push/pedal through the shit and get to the other side. You are a beautiful person, inside and out, you are so strong, inside and out. You are on an amazing journey of self discovery and growth, because you truly have guts and a massive heart. Sometimes, at the "right" time, space, and place, it is wise to allow yourself, to feel the low, really feel it without resistance...get to the root, see what it's about, feel it to heal it, so it clears out of your whole system. You are so capable and you inspire empowerment in others. There is also strength in being gentle with yourself so please remember, to also be gentle with yourself. Love and many Blessings to you😊 🙏🌼🌺💛🌼🌺💛🌼🌺💛🌼

You rock! This is so inspirational I just want to quit my job and go riding again❤. Whenever I’ve been touring I’ve always found the locals make the trip and they provide, home cooked food, help, a dry place to sleep, kindness, even friendly local dogs following along for the ride. These are the things you will remember more than the views or ticking off boxes in a guidebook. You might not realise it now but these experiences, no matter how bad they seem at the time will shape you as person, they really have done for me. Keep on keeping on, you can do anything if you put your mind to it!!!! If you need more inspiration just think of all the people chained to a desk, (unfortunately like me), that are living vicariously through you!!! 🤟🏻 Rock on!!!

Yes, unfortunately there are always people who scare us or who are badly intentioned... When you're alone, it's always a bit difficult, or you can be totally happy with certain people! That's life, and it's true that for us it's easier in front of the screen... Keep going on the road of your bike and on the road of your life, both leading to happiness! Take good care of yourself. I've worked construction and raced dirt bikes, but true bike packing (carrying tent, sleeping bag, clothes, food and water on the bike) is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Congrats on being tough enough to even consider it let alone give it a try. Outstanding job! Sorry some creep bothered you. I carry a razor knife and will use it if need be. I've had a pack of coyotes nearby and was total scary. Supposedly wild camping is unlawful in most of the USA but I've never had much more than being told to leave. Nice video and thanks for sharing. FYI don't forget your lungs! I would defend any girl screaming and being attacked by a goon.

Losing sleep, worrying about camp visitors, is not good. You need to follow your gut feelings, move on, and you did. Nothing may have happened, but you probably would have gotten no sleep buy worrying. I have had many trips in lesser known places, both on bike and on foot. Following my gut instincts has kept me traveling, and I am just short of 70 years young! Enjoy your wanderings!

Everyone needs a break at some point. Your journey is for you. I‘m glad you share parts of it, but you shouldn’t feel obligated to share more than you feel comfortable with. - If you are taking some down time, then enjoy it to the utmost. Your 3 flats had me smiling. I just returned from my little thousand Km bike camping trip for this year. 2,5 weeks with zero mechanical problems despite a few hundred Km of off pavement riding. On my second day home I went for a ride with nothing on the bike but me and my little emergency supplies. Two flats in one day! And, after more than fifty years of frequent bike holidays something totally unexpected happened. When remounting the rear tire I snapped the skewer on the rear wheel. 🤦🏻 Life always has surprises for us. Take care. Enjoy yourself.

Hi Lara, that was a difficult video to watch the way your travels stressed you out. I'm glad you're ok and trying a different path. I once suggested to you that you stop somewhere for a while and get a job doing anything. You'd be able to build your strength up again and be in a better mindset to resume your travels. Have you thought about finding a like minded travel companion. If you stop for a while you might meet someone you could travel with. I wish you all the best and keep on trusting your gut.❤

The bit where you say to yourself, "Cheerio, hey ho, let's go!" just broke me. Sometimes that's all we have left in us, and it's the fuel that propels us to our destination for the day. To a point of recovery, a break between day and day. You're so strong and resilient. Even when you lose your temper and swear away in German, that's fuel again! I hid muddy patches sooo many times in my recent big trip and I swore like never before, just incessant self-talk and cussing and... upon looking back now, there was 20% enjoyment in it all as well. May you fall asleep each night with pride in your heart, you're doing great!

I couldn't help it, I was laughing and wincing (in solidarity) as you were struggling through the mud-- I had the same experience last year when I looked on a map and decided to take a supposedly scenic cycle path in the north of Italy. By the time I got to a real road everything was covered in mud, I was exhausted and pissed off, and even my brakes weren't working. I'm glad you did meet that Italian family, though-- it's funny how one really positive experience can change the narrative on a solo trip. By the way I live part time in Piedmont, let me know if you ever come back through! Italy can be SOO beautiful and life-affirming when the weather is better.

I have had the same camping experience, best to move on quickly. On the trail last week I took the wrong route and got bogged down nearly in thick mud.

Beautiful video and wonderful to see someone sharing the realities of the bike packing life. We rode to Tuscany early this summer and had a lot of rain and share your frustrations. My wife and I started bike touring after living on a small boat for many years and it reminds us a lot of life onboard. You carry needs not wants and everyday is a gift when you are free, as they say less is more. Amazing how the world opened up to you and you found a home and place to reenergise when you needed it. We have found that if you are open to it the world provides what everything you need, although sometimes they’re hard lessons and its not always easy moments to get through. And isn’t it amazing that those that give the most are always those with the least. Carry on inspiring and if you ever want a couple to share some cycling adventures with let us know we are already planning our next adventure! Cheerio ;-)

Hello, I live in southern Brazil and I've already cycled 1000 km solo, sharing the best moments in my videos. My goal is one day ride up to patagonia, Argentina and I'm excited to create a bikepacking channel. You are actually my inspiration!

Love it... I'm just 5min into your video and find myself laughing at your thoughts on the weather. Edit... 25min in, and laughing at your swearing. This video has made my day. Now to watch all your vids and plan my next cycle trip :)

Love this vid, showing the difference between travelling and going on holidays in a very intense way. No high-glossy promo stuff, just real life on the road. Deeply emotional insights, thanks a lot for sharing! I hope you can fully recover soon and pass your next adventures. Truly inspiring! Ride on, whereever the road may take you 👍
