The question is, can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Sun version using only Alolan forms? Well, it's a short question, but with a long answer, get some popcorn and a beverage and hope you enjoy.
Rules of the challenge:
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Okay, why are people so reluctant to use Hidden Power on these runs? It's another option for type coverage! Also, DUDE, Black Sludge on your Muk, you could have used it to passively gotten back your HP.

Hidden power would be good on Mons that can't let anything but it's own type and normal moves. But gotta check that the hidden power doesn't turn out to be the same type as your Mon which would be useless.

No, that's affection. Friendship and affection are two different stats. The best way to get Pichu to have more happiness is by just buying a ton of Potions, throwing it into battle, letting it take damage, and Potioning afterwards without gaining EXP. Also just running around with it in the party does the trick. Takes a while, but it's worth it for that early-game sweeper.

And the respective stones or other upgrade items to get to the last evolution. (Togekiss, Roserade, Raichu) The same with Porygon, but at level 1 fully evolved with the respective items and trading.
