What I love most about Chappell's connection to such a huge base of listeners is that it's such a strong signal to the industry as a whole: less auto tune, less music that only sounds good w/100 production layers, less canned lyrics- more electric live performers, more pitch perfect vocals, more deeply personal story telling- ie: more human.

I've watched several live performances of this and she absolutely killed this one. The head voice, the belting, the swan lake aesthetic, the ethereal lighting design, the camera panning through the reeds... PERFECT!!! Especially the belting after the bridge. She was literally out-singing the backing track. Truly gave me chills. There are so many vocalists from our generation of pop girlies who have a cute image and fun lyrics but don't have the vocals. Chappell really is the whole package. She's something special and I'm so thankful for everything she's shared with us.

I am almost 60 & absolutely love this! There are definate 1980's vibes in this song. The verse is structured like Wham's "Last Christmas" & the chorus has incredible Kate Bush vibes, which is a massive compliment from me as I adore Kate Bush! & unlike most performers today this lady can actually SING & appears to have talent. Awesome song. From what I've heard of the album version and other live videos. I like this one the best. It is the right amount of energy, live singing/ band and balance of backing singers/ backing tracks. 3:06 is my favorite moment! I'm gradually checking out more of Chappell Roan's music.

Her sound, looks, and topics she sings about all added together make her pretty unique and she’s risen to fame relatively quickly. I don’t think a top 10 on the list defines singers. Not everyone’s gonna like her music and that’s fine, but for a debut album and a specific target audience I really wouldn’t expect a top 10 lmao. That’s just unrealistic, still feasible though.

I get so emotional watching Chappell get all the recognition she deserves! Growing up queer, a lot of our icons were straight women or existing icons that came out well into their career. To see a young openly queer artist becoming a new icon for a new generation of queer people gives me so much hope. To experience Chappell Roan is to experience queer joy and I hope her work opens people’s hearts even more to our community and the beauty we are!
