I am so glad they got Chappell for this episode. Seeing her grow in popularity lately and seeing how the media has been treating her as of late, regarding her prioritizing her mental health and addressing fan behaviors. It is really helpful to be reminded in an episode like this that these people are real and have lives of their own that audiences have to respect. Ashley and Chappell are very similar in the sense that they will stand up for themselves and try to deconstruct the common tendency of social media forgetting that relationships are parasocial. Hope to see her back some day, love this episode!!

I've never experienced the "I don't have anyone to go with" thing. If I want to go see something, whether that's a movie, concert, comedy show, author event, play, circus show or whatever, I just go. It actually feels more intimate that way. Sometimes when someone I know is sitting next to me it's like having someone read over my shoulder, or seeing things partially through their eyes. I love being alone and complete within myself in those experiences; the connection between me and the artist/show feels less interrupted somehow.
@bitchboymghee Жыл бұрын
I really feel this! Personally for me it's probably a mix of overempathy and anxiety. Like I can't stop half my brain from, as you put it, seeing it through their eyes, and then also I'm worried about whether they're having a good time and if our experiences are congruent, if one of us is having more fun than the other or something? Entirely too much to think about imo
@shubhneetkaur62524 ай бұрын
also if im watching a movie alone, i pause it a lot, to really take in everything and process and feel. but if there's someone watching it with me, i wouldn't do that cuz i wouldn't want to disturb them.

i am literally so happy to have found chappell because i am a stripper, and i struggle with mentally keeping that separate from myself. i don’t get very involved with anyone outside of work, but i am so sensitive, calm, and down to earth outside of work, but at work, i am so much more sensual, outgoing, “dream girl-ish.” understanding it as like a “project” is really interesting, and so helpful. i relate to her in a few ways, especially about the “i like being sexy, but im not sexual” bit. so cool! it’s also so so obvious that she’s a drag queen!!! her alter ego is so interesting and entertaining, and i can’t wait to see where she goes in her career!

@floristfindspeaceАй бұрын
@@Gizmosnitto13 ahh hi, thank you for asking! well, at the time, i was living in a motel. i left my hometown and job on impulse after my grandma died, and my family aren’t very good to rely on for support. when i left, i didn’t have anywhere to live, and i couch hopped with my partner at the time until we couldn’t anymore. i’m dancing now because of my own poor financial decisions, lack of vision for my future, and poor mental health as a whole have lead me here. also because it’s genuinely difficult trying to not only survive, but thrive in our economy, especially if you do it independently majority of the time. i also dance because it’s creative, freeing, and fun, especially if you don’t take it seriously. it’s a lovely place to explore your sexuality -in the sense of like, owning it and defining it for yourself- and a lovely way to be expressive with your makeup, clothing, etc. it can be a helpful tool for that, for your gender identity, and identity overall, though obviously, it can be just as harmful at times too. it helped me to learn how to face rejection, and connect with people in a way that’s not personal, but still honest in its own way. i have learned to just talk to them bc i struggled with that a lot growing up, and i’ve learned that EVERYONE is weird, different, struggling etc because i have met and worked with SOOO many different kinds of people over the past 7 years. it helps me also to maintain personal boundaries, which i don’t know if i would have struggled more or less with maintaining if i didn’t have this job, but i have slowly learned to respect my being and boundaries through dancing.
