@@Glassdoll208 Respecting her privacy is a reasonable request, but the name thing is a bit too much for any artist on the world stage to reasonably expect. Every significant artist I can think of through history has been known and appreciated by their stage name, as well as for their true identity, from Samuel Clemons (Mark Twain) to Elizabeth Grant, to Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. These people are legends for who they are, not just for their stage name, which is just their brand. Like Apple is Steve Jobs' brand.

It’s a shame so many people who get this kind of overnight fame also get the crazed amount of people tracking them down and trying to find where they live or other things that just overstep boundaries. I think before social media it was easier to disassociate from celebrities and their life because we only saw what the media wanted us to see; but now they control that narrative and unfortunately it makes many fans develop this parasocial relationship towards them and feel like they’re owed more knowledge. It’s a double edged sword and unfortunate; she is an amazing artist and I enjoy listening to her and am happy she’s known but I wish it didn’t come with the negative side.

I don’t think she’s addressing it in a blindsided sort of way. It’s common knowledge at this point that fame=public facing. Which means you are vulnerable to the insane people of the world and all eyes are on you. She was simply asked what she missed before her viral attention. Obviously being lighthearted about it. She’s been doing a normal jobs and chipping at music for a decade before all this and is a grown woman. Once you reach the point that you are dropped by your label’s roster you almost stop expecting that success and the additional fame will come about. She’s got boundaries and I don’t think she sees value in chasing fame. I can imagine if one crazy interaction happens with a fanatic person that she’ll stop this career, especially if her family becomes compromised by the danger.

I can’t help but feel like those that take any glee or dismissiveness from a celebrity getting bombarded or overexposed publicly might feel some kind of misplaced resentment and want to see them uncomfortable to make them feel better about how successful they are. It’s funny how success is the only thing that matters in life, it seems. Yet those that unlock it now become the object of our anger or expectations. We shouldn’t expect any stranger to halt their lives to accommodate us. People forget that not every moment grants a photo and people get upset when a celeb talks with them, but won’t take a pic. It’s already risky if some fan decides to reveal the celebs location or tag it in a social media post. I don’t care if you buy every piece of merch or sink time into some obsession with them. If you’re not meeting a celebrity in a social setting or in a monitored safe place then the celebrity has every right to be wary or set a boundary. To be candid and say they missed a time where they had more freedom to just be in the world. There are many who are dead because a deranged fan got too close.
