While she is destined to have a long and illustrious career now, I'm starting to think the best shows to ever have seen her live will turn out to be her late 2023, early 2024 headlining concerts. Because it's only been in those that, so far anyway, she has sung all 14 songs on Midwest Princess... the entire incredible album... plus Love Me Anyway and Good Luck Babe. Whatever wonderful songs she puts out in the future -- and there will be very many -- this recent run of those 16 songs live, as she's soared from borderline unknown to the deservedly biggest thing in pop, gets to happen like it just did only once in her life.

This song is on the playlist at the Old Navy I work at. At first I thought it was just neat sounding and laughed a little at how her voice wavered during the final chorus. When I finally got to listen closer I was like “hey, that sounds like Chappell Roan, haha,” and decided to Shazam it. It’s wild to me how many of these songs I have heard before but never paid attention enough to figure out who they were by. I can’t even remember when I heard these songs but I know I have. In that way I feel like I relate to this song even more: we didn’t give you a chance but you still love us anyway. I don’t want to compare artists but this song gives me the same strong, bittersweet, melancholy vibes that (edit: I meant Eyes Open) by Taylor Swift does. The paper cutout lyric video reinforces that and the way both songs seem grossly underrated and often forgotten about. The storytelling is so powerful.
