Welcome! My name is Toby D Morris, and I’m the author, illustrator, and publisher of The Numbers!
Today I’m reading Chapter 1 from the first book in the series, The Numbers: Get in Order! Originally, each chapter within the book was intended to be a book by itself, aimed at younger children, until I decided to expand and upscale each story before putting them together (in order, of course) and creating The Numbers: Get in Order!
I looked at character 1 after I designed him and thought, ‘He looks upright and ready to go... 1 naturally looks like he’d be the first!’ Many of us love to be first, but 1 was the first to lend a hand and help set an example by being the next number to count on! He naturally deserves his place after 0!
