DA mentioned at least couple times in lead up to this chapter how big it was and that he couldn’t wait to cover it. Now we know why! And, I loved the preaching toward the end that included “if you’re a doubting believer, you’re still a believer” “ if you’re a ______believer, you’re still a believer”, etc etc. Oh man, that was golden. Most powerful OT with DA so far perhaps, though I’m a little disappointed that I probably won’t get to have my own jujitsu match with Jesus 😀

God's strong hand is not one of combat, but one of comfort. Happy to be reminded that my savior is NEVER against me. I am learning so much from the life of Jacob, he is us and we are him...ever in fear and need of Jesus, for Him to bless us. Bless me, Father, I pray.

What an EPOCH assurance of Salvation by faith!! Such a great chapter- so many good points on the parallel of Jacobs Exile and Jacobs return🌈 Thanks David for pointing out all those similarities and really conveying a contagious love and appreciation for God and His care communicated through these chapters! \\

My word for this chapter was Pardoned. I wrestled with pardon and plead. It's hard not to pick both but I figured I would pick what God has done for me when I wrestle with the sins I have committed and just want to know that I am blessed by God just like Jacob.

Hosea 12:3,4 - He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God, yea he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Beth-el, and there he spake with us. “A name celebrating victory” Through humiliation, repentance, and self-surrender, this sinful, erring mortal (Jacob) prevailed with the Majesty of heaven. He had fastened his trembling grasp upon the promises of God, and the heart of Infinite Love could not turn away the sinner’s plea. As an evidence of his triumph and an encouragement to others to imitate his example, his name was changed from one which was a reminder of his sin, to the one that commemorated his victory. GC 617 I truly loved this chapter, I cried and cried. Amazing!

Why did the "Angel" say, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”? Angels aren't afraid of the light. I believe that the Angel wanted us to know that it was that point between darkness and the light when Jacob stopped wrestling and hindering, and started clinging to a covenant keeping God! Jacob started wrestling for the birthright blessing in the womb, though it had been promised to him. (Genesis 25:23) The wrestling continued his whole life, right up to "the divine touch at break of day that revealed the One with whom he had been contending".TMB p.11 Then Jacob stopped fighting God and received the name change. Our God keeps His promises when we stop trying to do it for Him. #OTwithDA

Would you consider no longer pronouncing יהוה the way the Catholic Church calls the transliteration of the tetragammaton YAHWAY, but the original Hebrew way out of a sense of awe (the full name being too sacred for utterance) , namely simply Hashem or Elohim. First of all there is no W sound in Hebrew. Secondly I have heard your teachings on the Catholic Church and wonder why you are using their transliteration in the first place.
