I just loved Johnny’s contribution to this story and the one of Joseph. Importance of ‘change of coats’ in Joseph’s story and importance of water in the Moses’s, being drawn 7 times. Preach brother 🙏🏻💥

As you were talking about leaving Egypt, it came to me that it didn't matter if you were a slave or a prince in Egypt, God's call was for you to leave. It also occurred to me that even if you were living well in Egypt you were still a slave in some respect because everyone served the Pharaoh. How different from God's rulership over Israel. Thank you for a great discussion!

It amazing how history repeats itself, one can find stories and also faults of all Moses’s forefathers in his life.

I love both of the ways you gentlemen broke down this chapter - the fourteen themes and the three divisions (Dynast, Desert, and Deliverer).

Finally after reading this chapter several times I came up with the word Favor. I picked the word because in my community it’s used so often as a means of exclusion instead of as presented chapter as God’s unmerited promised protection. God had favor on his people during their hardships of slavery, His favor protected Moses from being killed twice, His favor allowed the Israelites to be blessed with gold and silver from their oppressor’s, His favor provided an opportunity for Moses to be raised by his mom with wages and even in the midst of Moses uncertainty about returning to Egypt God’s favor reassured him that He was with him every step of the way.

Genesis 15:13 NKJV [13] Then He said to Abram: "Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years.

I thought that the parallels between Joseph and Moses were interesting, and I’d never thought of them before. Joseph was a Hebrew, sold into slavery in Egypt, but God essentially turned him into Egyptian royalty in order to save His people. Moses was a Hebrew, born a slave, but also turned into Egyptian royalty by God as a part of His plan to save His people.

I loved it, but very confused at the biblical account of God wanting to kill Moses exodus 4:24. Seems a little harsh. I know there must be a back story but I am not finding it. I know he didn’t circumcise his son but still not understanding. One thing I have learned through this study everything in bible has significance not just written for our pleasure.

In regards to DA’s explanation of 430 years, I just want to ask, can any ‘Appendix’ be authority to change the Word of God? Or, can apostle Paul, or anybody else, by his explanation change ‘Thus said the Lord’? Here is what God’s Word said in regards to this time: Gen 15:13 And He said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; Exo 12:40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. Exo 12:41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt. Please note these words or phrases in these three texts: 1) “Know of a surety” thy see will be afflicted for “400 years”. 2) “Israel dwelt in Egypt 430 years”! 3) “At the end of 430 years all the hosts went out of Egypt”, “the self-same day”. Can this be any plainer? Out of this text, the only conclusion we can come to, that Israel lived in Egypt in peace and prosperity for 30 years while Joseph and his authority in Egypt was remembered. After those years they were ‘afflicted’ 400 years just as God said to Abraham, in Genesis 15:13, that they will be. Friends, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good" 1 Th 5:21
