Welcome! My name is Toby D Morris, and I’m the author, illustrator, and publisher of The Numbers!
Today I’m reading Chapter 9 from the first book in the series, The Numbers: Get in Order! Originally, each chapter within the book was intended to be a book by itself, aimed at younger children, until I decided to expand and upscale each story before putting them together (in order, of course) and creating The Numbers: Get in Order!
9 naturally had the look of being laid-back and relaxed to me. And being the last of the small numbers it seemed natural that 9 was to be a patient number! As he waited his turn without complaining or moaning, it was no surprised that he was chosen as the next number to count on!
