The scene at about the 4:50 point I think point to the idea that Shaw wanted Chuck dead. Almost from the beginning. He wanted to be boss hog and have the Beautiful Sarah. (He later treats her like a thing, so, love has nothing to do with it.)

What I could never forgive was that Sarah was Shaw's fucking doll for months and that the spineless Chuck takes her back, if he had been a normal man he would have let Shaw kill Sarah on the bridge in Paris and let the CIA chase Shaw around the world for to have killed their best agent

Daniel Shaw was definitely the most violent and most cowardly villain ever in Chuck. The reason why he knows everything is because he has an intersect in his brain like Chuck does. Plus he killed Chuck’s dad for crying out loud. That is just pure evil.

I don't know if he's a loser, but he's the archetype loner spy. He is in it for himself. Think of how many characters, including Roan and Carina, who describe only taking care of yourself, and letting team members die if captured. He's the yang to Chuck's Yin. Chuck's loyalty makes him a more powerful asset. A more powerful spy. Shaw playing with Sarah, kissing her and the rubbing and the coffee stuff is just more examples of how he is more about himself than his colleagues. Shaw is the good spy with no soul.

Chuck saw though Shaw from their first meeting and tried to warn the others.

This gives new context to the trainwreck that was the triangle or square if you include Hannah. You have helped make S3 Eps 7-11 more bearable. But I still really hate Shaw.

I agree. I know he was supposed to be a great spy but just about everything he did was a mess. It was hard to believe Sarah could fall for him. You really had to stretch your imagination, and it damaged her character.

I can see how people think that. And I do believe that “romantic storyline” was ill conceived, but I’m finally settled with it. At least we didn’t have to witness them really break up five times and endure a bunch of potential placeholders. I also believe that Morgan stealing Chuck’s wallet saved their relationship If not for that IOU and everything happens exactly as it did, She doesn’t forgive him for leaving her on the platform because she doesn’t trust anyone easily. The only thing I can’t get over is the name thing. I wish they would’ve gone with what Fedak said. He said in a podcast interview that they filmed a scene where Sarah said it was a stuffed dogs name. Beyond that the more the more I watch the more settled become with everything. But I would still love a movie to see where the characters are now.

@@SteveFresca-qk1vd I have to disagree. I think it actually in some ways enhanced her character. It made her more of a normal person. A broken heart is a hard thing to deal with. And trying to find someone new, in order to deal with it, is a normal response. But even when she was with Shaw, there are still indications that she was wishing she could be with Chuck, despite everything. She was going to kiss him, during the shakeout, after his expression of regret about Prague, til Shaw interrupted them.

It seems to me that from an early time Shaw wanted Chuck killed. The scene where everyone confronts him may be the start. WAnting Sarah to himself comes just a bit later. Yes, Chuck saves his life at least 3 times. In the scene from 'the Beard' if Sarah is not there Chuck dies. I can't help but think that the only reason he holds off is that if he kills Chuck he will never get Sarah. Thanks.

Just to play devil's advocate for a second, grief can make people do some crazy shit. Shaw's reaction to the ultimate situation, at least at first, isn't really that unexpected. At least he didn't go all scorched earth and nearly single handedly start World War III with the Chinese and Russians 😉

Yeah, Shaw was kind of a dumbass. Far too cocky, with no real basis for his overconfidence. And he went from giving Chuck too much credit for his spy abilities, to completely and routinely underestimating Chuck every single time they fight. Then, the scene you included in another video, where Chuck talks about him being too emotional for the intersect to work right, and Sarah says "You can talk to us", Chuck's response of "No, thanks" is clearly directed much more at Shaw. At the end of this, where Chuck says "He would've done the same for me", he clearly knows that's not true, and is just using that as a way of showing Sarah he hasn't changed after all, and is using it as a setup for telling her he loves her. And lastly, Shaw using Decker as the person to blackmail in order to try to take down Chuck, CLEARLY was a pretty poor choice. He was a dumbass, too. Makes one wonder about the CIA's hiring practices 😂
