For all of his issues, Jack Burton is ultimately the real hero of the show. His recognition of Chuck's love for Sarah is ultimately what got her to admit to herself that she's in love with Chuck. Plus, he gave his blessing, in his own way, to them getting married, which for all their issues, would've still been important to Sarah.

@ErikLeber-td7oj3 ай бұрын
I look at it as the exact opposite. Casey is still encouraging her not to give up on the whole situation. His comments came after he notices Sarah is staring at the still of Chuck on the security camera. I think he sees that she's hurting over the whole situation, especially considering how she reacted to Chuck during the mission was completely out of character for Sarah. And remember, this came after Casey had asked Chuck about what had happened and he just said he needed to fix it. So I think Casey's just reminding Sarah, that no matter what it was that Chuck did, he still is in love with her, and that whatever the issue is, it can be fixed. And let's face it, Casey probably would've just assumed it was Chuck who f'ed things up, anyway, if if Chuck hadn't already said as much.

@@SteveFresca-qk1vd It's seemingly just that he didn't like Bryce, for some reason. He seemed to rather have enjoyed having "killed" Bryce during the pilot, and had a lot of animosity towards Sarah, for some reason too. And when Bryce came back, was the first time Casey gave Chuck shit about him and Sarah, too.

That part of the show was realistic. In the real world, prior to 9/11 the letter agencies (CIA, NSA, FBI, etc.) all had their little fifedoms and they did not share info or work together at all. They all played "I got a secret" so they could save the world and thus get more funding. After 9/11 it was postulated that 9/11 might not have happened if the agencies had worked together and shared info. So Casey (with the NSA) would have not been nice to any CIA agent (Sarah and Bryce) and would have been happy to take one out, and he certainly would not have trusted them. This is also brought out in his comments with Carina who was with the DEA, again a different agency, and thus was not to be trusted or worked with. Caseys initial distrust of Bryce and Sarah was one of the realistic parts of the show.@@ErikLeber-td7oj

@@SteveFresca-qk1vd But in the context of the show, there seemed to be more to it than that. Sarah called Casey a "burnout", and Bryce clearly didn't trust or like him, either. And during the Thailand episode, Casey says he didn't like the pre-Chuck Sarah, calling her "Graham's wild card" and "unpredictable." So clearly, they had crossed paths sometime previously. That's why I think, that at least initially, Casey was just going along with the whole Charah thing, just to be against Bryce, whereas, later on, he was all in on Chuck and Sarah's relationship.

The episode with Sarah's dad was amazing on so many levels. When Chuck first meets him, the look Jack Burton gives him, he obviously thinks his daughter is running some sort of con (she obviously is, just a difference kind of con). So the fact that by the end of the episode, he realizes his daughter is actually in love with Chuck, says a lot. On top of that, Chuck defends his actions to Sarah on many occasions. And every time he does, she basically says that she wishes her father was more like Chuck, which of course he completely misses.

A good compilation, but, a bit less focused than your usual work. I think that you could do an entire video from the first couple of seasons where Casey is encouraging them. Or, at least, helping them get together. F'rinstance in the season 1 finale when he lets Sarah go after Chuck and he looks for Pita girl.

My one small nitpick of the show is how they handled the other characters being aware of Chuck and Sarah's actual feelings for each other. For instance, Carina clearly knew when she first met Chuck. Yet, the first indication that Casey knew anything, wasn't until the truth serum episode, when he asked Sarah if she had compromised herself. He asked her again in 1x10, and clearly wasn't happy about the situation. And yet, the end of the same episode was the first time he gave Chuck shit about it, seemingly indirectly, in his way, telling Chuck to do something about it. And the fact that Morgan didn't directly point out to Chuck that he knows that Chuck loves Sarah, until after he finds out Chuck is a spy, is a little odd, too. You would expect Morgan to have gotten it before anyone else, except maybe Ellie. I also don't really understand why Awesome was the first outside character to find out Chuck is a spy. Realistically, Ellie should've been suspicious about Chuck's somewhat odd (for him, at least) behavior, throughout the middle of season 2. He goes from giving Sarah the bracelet (2x11), to telling Ellie, "Sarah and I are never going to be anything more than what we are" (2x13), to out of the blue wanting to break up with Sarah, and then at the end of the same episode, completely switching and going to move within Sarah, and then at the end of the very next episode, he does another 180 and isn't going to move out. Seems like Ellie should've been suspicious of why Chuck's attitude about the situation kept changing so drastically. Just minor nitpicks.

Even with all he did to look out for Chuck, when Bryce tells Chuck that Sarah has actual feelings for him, he pretty much comes off as a jealous douche. It probably also made the Charah roller coaster ride go longer than it otherwise may have. I like to think she was going to tell Chuck how she really felt about him, before his speech about how their relationship "would never be real." The way she nervously swallows and shrugs her shoulders before she comes up to him in that scene, would seem to suggest that. And she's clearly devastated by what he says, even though she completely understands where he's coming from. Bryce may have also inadvertently prolonged it by being the one to tell him she wasn't leaving. He essentially tells Chuck to take care of her. That, I think may have contributed to Chuck's decision in Prague, which in turn eventually lead to Chuck and Hannah, and Sarah and Shaw 🤮🤮

Maybe I'm wrong, but it almost seems like Carina would've actually been interested in Chuck too, if it weren't for Sarah. Just the look she gave him and the slight licking of her lips, she wanted him too. So despite being a complete dork, Chuck is somehow a chick magnet.
