I like all of the classes because I thought there would be a magic school for magic casters: like wizards, warlocks, sorcerers, artificers, or arcane tricksters to learn and study, like in modern times. I think it's a perfect thing for kids or teenagers in Dungeons and Dragons. Don't you agree?

@@lalaofmotunui7927 Eda would probably be either a Professor of Expression at the Prismari College or a Professor of Chaos for Lorehold. I can see Lilith as either a Professor of Theory at Quandrix or a Professor of Radiance at Silverquill. Raine is a professor at whatever college Eda works at but on the opposite side of it's spectrum so either a Professor of Perfection at Prismari or a Professor of Order in Lorehold. As for other students, any bard track/coven member would end up in either Prismari or Silverquill. Boscha would be a Witherbloom student since it more easily offers alchemy studies and she would also be a part of the Mage Tower Team. Ed and Em would fit in wonderfully at Prismari. Viney would tend to animals in the bogs of Witherbloom while Jerbo would be there using magic to talk to plants. Bria would be digging up treasure in Lorehold and Mattholomule would also be digging up stuff in Lorehold trying to pass random junk as artifacts. Hunter I can see going to either Silverquill or Quandrix. I have no idea what to do for Bump.

Percy from CR is actually a Gunslinger Fighter, it's a homebrew subclass for fighter that Taliesin and Matt Mercer developed together. However, Taryon Darrington (also from the first campaign of CR) is an Artificer, though admittedly that was back when it was just Unearthed Arcana so the rules were slightly less refined.

I think the only real "problem" with Strixhaven is that it was weirdly marketed as both a setting guide and a campaign, where it's really more like WDDH or BGDiA; a campaign with a substantial gazetteer and bestiary. So people went into it expecting a full guide to Arcavios when even MtG players don't have that.

Dude your slam poetry bard idea is exactly what my current character is and it’s literally so fun. I actually also have a nerdy wizard owlin, I was laughing when you mentioned the owlin you made and my brain immediately went "oh God, don't be a snowy owl". I am playing that campain atm as a Changeling Shadow Sorcerer that got tainted when he left the Fey Wild and passed the Shadowfell. He is now all black, white and grey and only has color when he changes to another person. He joined silverquill, cause he has a rly sharp tongue and is acid cynic. Infront of others hes nice and cheeful. But slowly he actually gathers friends and develops a life. He learned that singing is his way of showing himself to others. The campain also rly helps myself to work through some shit i gathered on my shoulders. I love all of it

My suggestions for names for these absolutely lovely character designs have to be (in order from left to right): Tempest Blightfyre, Coil Elhammer, Achlius Brangwen, Amaryllis Fairedoe, and Otus Stoneherald :) It’s so cool to hear your thought process on designing these characters and your specific inspirations for them!! I adore the process of designing characters especially in a D&D setting so this was a huge motivator into creating more characters that I won’t even use anytime soon... Silverquill Tiefling Bard Prismari Fire Genasi Rogue (Arcane Trickster) Witherbloom Satyr Druid (Circle of the Land; Forest) Lorehold Owlin Wizard Quandrix Warforged Artificer So to give a bit of context, each of the five Strixhaven colleges is based around one of the five Magic enemy color pairs. In Magic the Gathering, each of the five colors of magic (White, Blue, Black, Red, & Green in that order) has two allies (the colors closest to it) and two enemies (the colors opposite it). Ally colors tend to work together, while enemy colors tend to oppose each other philosophically. People have been clamoring for a set focused around the enemy color pairs for a while now, as the last one was either back in Lorwyn/Shadowmoor or all the way back in *Invasion*. One thing that Alex didn't talk about was that while originally Strixhaven was a part of an MtG plane known as Arcavios, the creators for SCoC designed the colleges to fit into any setting.

I wasn't aware that D&D released a new book, so when I watched this on christmas eve I thought 'oh, thats cool' and then my dad, who didn't know what to get me for christmas, got me the most recent D&D book, which happens to be Strixhaven. Still not sure how I'm supposed to use it for D&D, but its interesting to say the least :D

9:10 Percy is actually a homebrewed fighter subclass. Taryon Darrington is the only artificer that was in Critical Role I believe. At the very least he's the only one that was not an NPC.

Maybe the Lorehold student could be named Otulissa? The name comes from Guardians of Ga’hoole, which if you haven’t read it is a fantasy series centered around an owl civilization, and although the character of Otulissa is a spotted owl instead of a barn owl, she’s EXACTLY that same type of researcher as the one you’ve drawn!
