For those who don't know, the number 4 and the word for death sound/look similar in a few east asian languages. In many places like Japan and China, there are no 4th floors, rooms ending in 4, or important things scheduled on the 4th of a month. It varies, of course, but it's kind of like the number 13 here in the USA. A lot of buildings will have the 13th floor be utilities or storage, and then just skip from 12th to 14th. I think that might be why the 4th floor in that elevator was so creepy!

4층은 그냥 없는거에요. 4가 죽을 사 한자와 음이 똑같아서 어느 아파트에선 4층을 그냥 5층이라고 표기하고 4층을 그냥 없는층 취급해요.

1:58 불편한 팩트 엘레베이터가 하락하는 상황에서, 우리는 그 내려가는 관성을 그대로 가지고 있다. 엘레베이터가 바닥에 닿기 직전에 높이 뛴다 하더라도, 그 점프력이 본인의 관성을 전부 상쇄흘 만큼 강하지 않기 때문에 결국 절명할 것이다. 좀 더 쉬운 이해를 위해 숫자로 예를 들어 표현하겠다. 아래로 내려가는 관성이 100만큼이라면, 본인이 뛰어서 생기는 힘이 2 정도라고 생각하면 된다. 남은 98만큼의 힘은 본인을 뭉개버리고도 충분할 것이다.

It’s impossible to jump in elevator/lift that’s falling especially at high speed. The only thing you can do is lay down and spread your body while protecting your head using your hands(one at the back of head, one at the face). But majority of elevators/lifts has a safety feature.

정보:엘레베이터가 추락할때 점프하면 엘레베이터의 속도에.의해 몸이 붕 뜨면서 천장에 몸이 부딪힌다. 그러니까 엘레베이터에 있는 봉을 잡고 몸을 쭈그린 상태에서 등을 벽에서 때는게 좋다.

To be precise, in Korea it is read as sa, in China it is read as si, and in Japan it is read as si or yon. However, all three countries equally consider 4 to be a number associated with death.
