It helps a lot with mpg for one and after a certain amount of time it can get clogged and the check engine lights and the car doesn't run at full power

Just replaced my n80 purge valve as i had the error code for it and mpg was absolutely dire, had the clicking noise etc. now I've just had the P0441 code pop up so just ordered a charcoal canister. Will be using your video to fit ot when it arrives 🙏

Great video, I get smell of fumes sometimes inside and outside on my mk5 gti, wonder is it just as easy to replace?
@NorthCoastWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, yeah it could be a similar issue. And should be exactly the same process as they share the same engines. The main thing is to try and eliminate as many of the things that's not causing the smell, then it's sometimes a bit of trial and error with the remaining possibilities. Hope you can get it sorted mate 👍🏻🤞🏻

I fitted one of these from ebay or Amazon; can't remember which, about a year ago and have had no issues. I read on a forum that they come from the same Chinese factories that produce them for VW, and the area that's been ground off has the VW logo?
@NorthCoastWorkshop Жыл бұрын
That would make a lot of sense, as I've heard similar reports on a lot of other OEM parts you can buy for VAG cars. Turns out it was worth trying to save a few pennies for then 😁 cheers for watching and commenting pdk 👍🏻

Great vid, I’ve been chasing a problem with my 2.0 tfsi running rough. Had a walnut blast, r8 coil packs, uprated spark plugs. Now I’m assuming I have a vac leak (reason being the charcoal canister as some point has fell off and hit the belt next to it) I’m going to order one and see if this solves my problems🤔. Great channel pal
@NorthCoastWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, appreciated 👍🏻 Yeah vac leaks are a pain to track down. So many places that they can come from 😔 Ur right, rough running usually originates from a vac leak. The seal on the dipstick can fail, the PCV can leak, the pipework to the PCV, etc. Hope u track it down, let me know how it goes too 👍🏻

I have every about 1k miles engine check error p0441( tank venting system). I changed also charcoal canister and fuel tank breather valve. Nothing help 😢
@NorthCoastWorkshop Жыл бұрын
It could be the N80 valve is defective if you have one on your engine? The N80 valve on the TFSI engines can sometimes play up and cause fuel vapour/evaporator issues.

@@NorthCoastWorkshop yes, I changed N80 valve 👀

Apologies, just saw the message properly, was looking for the N80 bit thoughout 😅🙈 I'm not sure what else could be the issue. You've done all the things I would have suggested. There was how much grams of activated charcoal in the canister.I need to refill

Oh I haven't a clue I'm afraid, but the filled canisters are pretty cheap so I'd probably recommend getting a new one.

Is it possible that because of a bad charcoal canister my turbo sometimes kicks in at 3500 rpm and sometimes at 2500rpm?
@NorthCoastWorkshop Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure if that would contribute towards the problem. Possibly I'd check your diverter valve or the actuator on the turbo could be sticking open. It sounds like something is sticking open and not allowing boost to build up at the right time.

@arronlowley56592 жыл бұрын
do you think the canister/n80 could cause my car to stutter when accelerating from a standstill?
@NorthCoastWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
A small possibility Arron, but could be so many other things too. The ignition coils play up on these cars, as well as the injectors and also the diverter valves. If you're able to get diagnostic software plugged into the car, that'd maybe pinpoint what's causing the issue. Good luck 🤞🏻

Charcoal canister same as oil catch can or no?
@NorthCoastWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Similar style jobs in a way when it comes to vapours, but the do 2 separate jobs altogether. Charcoal canister collects fuel vapours and a catch can collects oil vapours

@NorthCoastWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
A lovely car you own 👌🏻 as for changing it, depends on if the car is showing any symptoms of possibly needing it changed. If it was an expensive part, and the car was running perfectly, I would say the current one was still good to use. If it's reasonably cheap, like mine was, and easy to replace, it would do know harm, and possibly benefit the running of the engine. Appreciate you watching 👍🏻

@@NorthCoastWorkshop Yeah. I watched a video and sent it to my sister about over filling the tank. Got me to thinking...when do they go bad ??? I couldn't find any service advise anywhere...I found one for 65 dollars ...The nozzle sometimes shuts off and spits out some fuel...even though I know its only been on a few seconds...I have to use a lower notch on the handle so it fills slowly Never heard anyone changing one...so maybe it is plugged up and backs up the fumes ...Thanks...while Im under the hood I got to change the horns too..they also went out... I'd be a bit unsure about removing it completely. Like some owners delete PCV valves and have engine issues later on, so I felt keeping my evap system standard would be more reliable in the long run. Cheers for watching 👍🏻
