I'm an American but, it is absolutely lovely watching you sail in the 28 knots of wind; I have a smile on my face while watching, hoping and wishing a good sail for you and wishing I was there to experience it first hand. Bravo to Adam and Khiara !

Really enjoyed coming along with you on this passage as they all have been worth the watch.. Anyone who didn't like those sunsets and sunrises should have their eyes checked as you'd say, " Straight away" or "Bloody what's up with your eyes???" Like your reflections on things like 6 days with half the sky always canvas and then just poles ... or seeing the bottom as such a novelty. Thanks for it ALL.. and I hope you both have ample time to rest.

Your shots of the swells and the sounds of the water and the color of the ocean, she is beautiful. She has a temper at the off times and a real mean temper at the of times. times. She is beautiful as you said, the sunsets and sunrises and the whales and even the flying fish. I would get rid of my land yacht (motorcoach) and get a real boat again.

The video's are much better when you show sailing and then show the interesting things of where you end up. I liked this video and I found the place you had the camera showing the waves was very good as it seemed to show the size of the waves along with the speed of the boat

Lovely to see Millie sailing so well! Shame you missed Madiera - some lovely places to explore :-)! Still you can't stop everywhere! I'm seeing the advantage of easy reefing systems :-)! Still you're experiencing what Skip Novak said about not having electric winches to keep the crew fit :-) ! Love how in the old sailing days signs of being close to land were changes in the clouds and birds, now it's ships coming up on the AIS and chat on the radio :-)!

I got a great chuckle out of the foot actuated winch! Sort of surprised you don't have self tailers on a boat that size BUMBER! I have a 43 foot boat and think the smallest winch I have is a 48st something or other but I know for the primaries they're 62s (electric I'm older than you guys its allowed). But the reason I'm writing is I'm a single hander done quite a few long passages and don't like leaving the cockpit. On all my boats I rigged it up to reef from the cockpit, and seeing how yours is setup it only would take a check-block a low fraction ring and some dyneema. I'd be glad to send you a diagram on it, oh also its not my idea but hope the inventor is very rich from it !
@peterfrebold2 жыл бұрын
.... so you were talking winches ... the one under the dodger seem to be missing the self tailing option ... will that be replaced with one of the main winches making it right skookum .... must say sure like your, cannot think what it is call so am going to call it a line lock, good and sturdy an UV will not deteriorate that baby .... am guessing it is safe to say that you had a blast and are still hooked on the sailing life .... you had some great shots of the ocean doing it's thing .... thanks for the peek into your adventure .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

No water heater? No problem! Just heat some water on the stove, pour it into a couple clean 1 liter water bottles, drill a few small holes in the caps, and you're good to go. I often do this for transom step showers underway. Works great sailing and camping!
@SailingMillennialFalcon2 жыл бұрын
That's actually a good idea! We were thinking of a solar heating bag (which we pour hot water from the stove into) but your option is a good cheap and cheerful way! 😁

Use the “15 minute” rule. Don’t do sh+t for 15 minutes. If the conditions hold then do something. If they don’t, have a beer and wait 15 more minutes. Also, if you had built in some easting early on when it was lighter, it would have let you run off when it became squally.

Perhaps a self-tailing electric main halyard winch would be a good investment. Easier to use as manual winch and the electric is there should one of you fall overboard and need winching in again.

I was wondering about your wind generator - it looked like it was only ticking over when you had over 25knts of wind. What charge is it producing in those conditions?
