"I can't believe that he said that. Who says something like that out loud?".... I once observed an incident at a work function. Outcast type dude mistakenly curses in the presence of a 13 year old. The group shamed him out of the house. A few weeks/months later, same exact group, and popular guy does the same thing.... Do you think the group shamed HIM out of the house? Of course not, it was "no big deal"..... A popular guy's "minor social infraction" is an unpopular guy's "major social infraction". Which is why videos such as these are a waste of time. An unpopular man that behaves like Robin Williams is viewed as annoying, overbearing, and excessive. And the very same people that are offended when unpopular guy behaves that way, will absolutely worship this same behavior, coming from a "popular" man. People are hypocrites People will interpret your behavior in whatever direction they like. This is why attractive people can get away with so much poor behavior. People WANT to like them. What do you think exists at the opposite end of that spectrum? The exact opposite is the answer. They DON'T want to like you, thus anything you do that is out of the ordinary will be met with negative reactions. A person such as this cannot just suddenly start behaving like Craig. If they do, they'll be met with negative results.

It takes work and time, but achievable for anyone. There are many celebrities not traditionally attractive who built careers by self improvement and are now admired (Steve Buschemi, Rebel Wilson, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Farley, Danny DeVIto, etc).

What are useful social skills that can be picked up quickly? By default, respect people. Cough, but cover your mouth with forearm, not palm. A smile at strangers is not bad; it's humility. Silence is the loudest display of anger; rest is immaturity. Most people find unnecessary touching uncomfortable, remember that. Interruption is impatience. Great people respect disagreement. The "sincerity fakeout" is what used to be called "popping the balloon" - it works best when the "sincerity" is built on socially mediated information (pre-processed societal assumptions and expectations we take for granted) - followed with breaking rapport by saying the opposite of what's expected, often involving an obviously absurd observation and/or accusation. For example, at a Xmas party I was randomly temporarily seated next to a woman I wanted to meet and a donation basket was passed around. As she handed me the basket, I flubbed the hand-off and dropped the basket on the floor. Instead of the expected apology, with a slight shake of the head, commented "you're so clumsy" in a way that indicated I wasn't serious. Later I saw her on the dance floor and commented on how well-dressed everyone was. Followed by, "I mean, look at you! You look... halfway decent." Got a big laugh. Blow up the balloon, then deflate it. But obviously this needs to be tailored to people and situation. The more attractive and confident the individuals the more you can get away with without offending someone.

I actually do much of this without thinking. Jokes come naturally to me, and half the time it's at my own expense. "Obviously I can't be trusted alone with it." - an inside joke about me breaking things. "I'll bring what you need in 2 hours." - currently referencing me taking two hours to bring a coworker something. The ones that are not inside jokes, I do on the fly. Most of the time it's at my own expense anyways, sometimes it's at their own expense. 9 times out of 10, it lands with a lasting impact. Anything really good, everyone just continues to reference it days or even weeks later. I also do a lot of encouragement, which are not so much tiny jokes, but tiny jabs. "Why don't you?" followed by... "Don't worry about it, just do it." Something a bit extreme, but that notion gets into their head and they usually remember something like that. Of course, all through context.

Guys, don't take the wooden tips and go out trying them like a human ikea construction, just go out and have fun, call up your friends or join a club like biking or whatever your thing is, or just make a few pals at work, keep your friend list short, don't depend on friends, put your effort into family, go out and make mistakes because it's the mistakes that strengthen your personality, seeing other peoples mistakes that improve both your empathy and wisdom....the best fighters did not get that way from winning, they got that way from losing and working on themselves, the best writers practiced and learnt from others and the best of you is already there, you just need to find you yourself and stop worrying what everyone else thinks.
