As soon as he got popular his addictions overtook him. He latched on to a relationship/girl that didn't work out then he spiraled out of control. His music turned to shit along with his whole life. He was a much different, worse person when he died. People who spin his demise into him being a genius were just enabling him. This is coming from someone who went to Allderdice and grew up in Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh. I'm well aware of the impact he had around here. I've never been so disappointed in someone I never met

Nah dude is right, as with most artists they dont get nearly as much plays/noteriety until they pass. Ill say Mac was still relatively known due to him being in the game longer than other who didnt get credit like that til they died (peep, pop smoke, STEEZ, Speaker Knockerz, etc) but they didnt really go through his discography like that, only what was the most popular. Faces wasn't even his most popular body of work when he was alive but when he died, overtime that shit sky rocketed. He still has a foundation for young African Americans without a platform trying to make music that can be donated too. He did a lot and meant a lot more than most. He said, "if you want to listen to something that will make you cry don't listen to hip hop" or something along those lines. A statement coming from such a huge star with fans from all different genres that may not necessarily listen to hip-hop enough to learn about the different styles. A statement like that is just further perpetuating a false stereotype about the culture.

Post started the beef, if he respected his own music he coulda just said i make music for ppl to have fun without bringing down his peers. All the people calling him culture vultures want is his to show reverence. Now I cant look at white iverson anymore without realizing hes clowning the rap genre. So much talent but looks like a complete fool when you compare images from then and now.

Mac was the man. He did him and that’s all. It’s a shame. I’ve battled with heroin/fentanyl for over half my life now, there comes a point where you see what’s coming and know you don’t have much longer on this earth. He made the most out of his 26 years. Rest In peace, you don’t have to struggle with your mind anymore and have given people tremendous insight into mental health and drug dependence. Your songs/story will save many lives

The morning I realized that he was gone. Passed away...was the morning I finally realized ... the life I was living .. only had 2 outcomes. I was tired of waking up and having to hustle enough for dope, gas, cigarettes, rent, and everything that comes with a 20 year addiction while totally ignoring everything and everyone else. I don’t agree with Charlemagne on much of anything but I do think that you should have an understanding and care about the genre you make your living in and Post clearly uses hip hop as a revenue stream. That’s not the music he cares about or has a passion for and it’s pretty obvious.

I think his music is really great but I think there is a difference in style. Mac Miller doesn't do anthems like congratulations which is a great song but rapped more about life. I mean I love the feeling Whitney song because it's real from post Malone but Mac Music is always like that. So it's just different.

@@barehands9614 pretty sure that interview came after charlemagne first started hating on him. Even if it wasn't, that one quote isn't a valid reason to hate someone. Also, post transitioning from hip hop to pop isn't a reason to hate him as well. A lot of artists change their style and there have been several artists that have used hip hop as an "in" to expand their appeal (think Drake). It's fair to say that charlemagne isn't universally attacking people that fit that description and is exclusively attacking Post. It's genuine hater behavior considering that post is the nicest guy in the world and hasn't done any harm to hip hop. So i disagree with your assessment

It’s that after he changed genres he went and took a jab at the very genre that made him popular. Not hard to understand. He’s just reiterating that a guy like mac actually pays homage to the culture… whereas post used it ,then turned around and talked down on it.

All of what was said during the interview, a wonder of how much of it, was said to his face, while he was alive. Really. Not said to guilt trip anyone, but, as that to reinforce the necessity it seems to speak to people about what matters, why they matter, and not to sugarcoat their ego or confidence to arrogance but to reassure them. It seems when looking on the experience from the outside it seems the individual is so similar to other individuals and yet they are completely different individuals, that similarity is an enormously creative individual, talented, going too fast too quickly, ‘gone too soon’, a bit of a recklessness to the actions yet an individual has so much insightful intellect. There has to be some form of reducing it from happening to the next creative artist, human being. If someone is from a small town, big city, or anywhere on earth. It seems, something such as that might have, might’ve made a difference in his life?? If instead of asking if he was messing with drugs trying to reassure his creativity, his contributions his one of kind irreplaceable uniqueness. 👌 Telling people not to mess themselves or run themselves to ruins because they are special and any of the reasons/ways they are. All while letting them know the seriousness of destroying their life/chances with alcohol/drugs.
