Technically it just ran it's course and ended. The revival attempts in recent years(2023) were canceled. But Aaron McGruder doesn't seem to have much involvement towards the end of the original run nonetheless the revival attempts. If the creator of the show isn't that pressed then why should anyone else be.

Everything in the boondocks was a parody of what was happening at the time. We just keep going over the same things in life. It's like whenever people say Boondocks predicted a chicken shortage not knowing they literally copied and pasted a news article that happened at the time. Same with the Scared Straight stuff.
