Charles Barkley Greatest Games: 38 Points, 21 Rebounds vs Cavaliers (1990 ECR1 Game 1)

One forgotten thing about our beloved Sir Charles, he had a lot of great playoff games in 76ers uniform, this is one of them, from 1990 playoffs round 1 against Cleveland Cavaliers team with Price, Daugherty, Ehlo, Nance and Hot Rod Williams.
Charles Barkley: 38 points, 21 rebounds (11 offensive), 3 assists, 15/25 FG.
76ers won the game 111:106 and went on to win the series 3-2. They were eliminated in the ECSF 4-1, Jordan (43/7/7/4) and the Bulls were to much to handle for anybody in the East at that time, with the exception of Bad Boys.

Charles Barkley was snubbed of the MVP that season (1989-90). He had 38 first-place votes and Magic had 27 first-place votes and Magic still won it over him. This was the only time in NBA history where the player with the most first-place votes for MVP didn't get the award.

Barkley was 6-4 and weighed 263 pounds. He started his career as a power forward, but he gave away so many inches to other power forwards that stood around 6-10 around the league. He still outplayed and dominated them by using his quickness. When he was switched to the small forward position, he just overpowered them in the paint. He was virtually unstoppable at both positions. He was a beast.

Preach! I remember watching this game with my dad! I was barkleyed out with the same sneakers on and crazy hyped! I was ready for barkley to bring a title back to philly... didn't happen and I was crushed.

The first playoff game I attended. The Atlantic Division championship banner was unveiled and while the crowd was still cheering loudly, Barkley dunked off of the opening tip a few moments later. The old Spectrum went insane - myself included.

can you imagine a prime barkley open court style game against streched out defenses..you would have to start counring from bonafide 5 coast to coast dunks per game and 15 boards..one can argue that charles is or isnt overall better than tim and carl but noone can argue that he dominated the paint like no one else exept maybe moses..i never witness anyone occyping more space in the paint like charles barkley..

For me , there isn't many better things than watching Charles play , now, on youtube, but still , lol. Watching him go up & blocking Hakeem or D. Robby or Ewing , he just gets up so high for his size & height , it blows me away!! To the crowd, it's SHOCKING when he would do it! "GASP!!!! ooooooooo" , cant get enuff. He was literately unstoppable!

I've always though his prime was 1990. His Suns career was awesome no doubt, but Charles was on another planet in the early 90s, he just had not enough help around him

Though he won his only MVP and led the Suns to his only finals appearance in 93, I believe 89-90 was Barkley at his absolute peak. He just had a better team around him when he got to Phoenix, though he was still great and in his prime.

I remember the late Derek Smith saying they were 1 or 2 players away and that Cliff Levingston woulda been a great fit for that team and told management to pursue him in the offseason. They didn't and he ended up in chicago the next season and the rest is history!! 3 words, Harold fuckin Katz... us philly folks know all about him!
