Yes. But Kemp was one of the first high school players turned pro. It's why his career dovetailed after Seattle IMO - it was a harder league and as a young kid when there were no others of his age, he seemingly could never reach his potential after he peaked in the '96 Finals. Don't get me wrong - he would never have been better than Chuck overall, but he could have been close. Sean Kemp was a monster during his short prime years. He was another physical freak along with Chuck.

As a Bulls fan, I can honestly say that even though the 1993 Finals Series Chicago vs Phoenix didn't got to seven games, it was scary to watch Sir Charles fight the Bulls in that series. In the end, the Bulls had a sharpshooter with ball$ of steel named John Paxon whose well executed 3 point shot ended the series before the brave Suns figured out the formula to beat the Bulls.

Charles Barkley is awesome. It would have been cool to see him pair up with another superstar because when he was locked in, he could really be the best player in any given game. A 6'4" forward who could lead the league in rebounding while also being a prolific scorer.
@kgthoughts

BARKLEY was always a likable guy but his issue was that he was a very stubborn and difficult teammate....Not to many superstars where willing to put up with his ego, he was a great competitor but he allowed himself to get baited into trashtalk way to much and let his emotions takeover which led to bad decisions...Not developing leadership qualities was his biggest downfall as a player... BTW those suns teams where great, top to bottom the best during that era..... they just ran into a prime MJ who they had no answer for.....on top of that they never faced a D on caliber of the Bull's....

It's funny too because when Barkley really focuses and takes the analysis seriously, I think he is the best analyst. He notices things that other guys don't. He just doesn't articulate as well as other guys like Doug Collins for instance. But Barkley is super entertaining on tv. His problem is that most of the games he covers are just not that interesting so he doesn't care to analyze it. But he is tv gold on those nights.

He said Jordan was his friend and brother but they still go at when they play against each other. No cheap shots just maximum effort. That is what sports is all about. it is foolish and silly that you have to dislike your opponent just because both of you want to win. Disliking your opponent and having bad feelings toward him does not change your abilities one way or the other.

ridiculous comment, Duncan is more valuable than Barkley, you cant really compare offensively because they had completely different games but Duncan can change a game and not score a point. Both great players, but Duncan was probably the best defender at PF at all time, and could play center just as well. Barkley was a liability at times on D.

The fact that Jordan and Barkley were best friends tells you who the 2nd best player in the game was. Game recognize game. Jordan was better, but he knew Chuck was coming for that ass at all times, and Jordan respected the hell out of him. If they both played in this era, they would win the title every year because now its cool to make Dream Teams. I'd take a MJ/Chuck tandem over any team today and it wouldn't be close.

fortnight GOD contrary to his media MVP Chuck was not the best or even 2nd best player in the NBA that year. Another guy in the NBA wearing #34 could've (and imo should should've) won MVP in 92-93.

The combo of speed and power and dominating the boards was otherworldly. People always remember the 93 Suns Chuck for their finals run but Chuck had his peak years in Phili especially his 1990 season where he claims he was robbed of the MVP from Magic which I agree he should have won, young Chuck was agile, mobile and explosive and was underrated defensively. He even admits that he was a better player with the 76ers because he was more athletic. He was unparalleled in his efficiency during his short peak from 87~93, unprecedented advanced stats nerds' wet dream lol. He won the MVP in 93 but tbh that should have gone to MJ but that was Chuck's best all around team, thrilling and the toughest matchup to the 90s bulls on par with the 96 Sonics. It's crazy how he never had a season where he averaged less than a double-double even in his old and banged up final decline years in Houston. Man was he a beast at boxing out and grabbing rebounds. The GOAT of the ringless.

@Defender80s In fact, here's a quotation from Tim Perry in the Worcester (MA) "Telegram & Gazette" from January 25, 1993, after the Suns defeated the Celtics in Boston the previous night. Perry scored 20 points on 10-16 shooting in that game. K.J. scored 21 points with 16 assists, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, and just 2 turnovers in 43 minutes, attempting only the sixth-fewest field goals on the team (9), yet scoring the most points.
